AAMCO Transmissions, Inc. Reviews

I was vacationing in Orlando Florida. On the way there my transmission started acting up. It was still pulling the car but would get hot and get stuck in second gear then I would have to pull over and let it cool off for an hour and it would work ok. I made it to Orlando but knew it would need repaired before I left Orlando. I called Aamco Transmission in Kissimee. I had called my mechanic in Indiana to which he replied it needed a shifter box. Since I had no tools I was forced to call this company. When I called I made sure to let them know I had to be out of Orlando in three days. They assured me they could have it fixed by then. No problem. They came for my car and my husband drove it up on the back of the car hauler. I called the next day for an estimate to which they replied" we have to have your permission to take the transmission out and look at it." To which I replied obviously you have my permission. You have my car. And I have to be out of the place I'm staying in 2 days." To which the female replied "no problem. I will have the report by the end of the day.I said "what report? " To which she replied " my mechanic has to submit a report stating exactly what is wrong with your transmission." I once again told her I had 2 days left in Orlando otherwise I would have no place to stay. Again she stated "no problem." She called me back early the next day to inform me that I needed a new transmission and the cost would be $1900.00 and it would be ready in 3 days. To which I informed her once again I had to be out of the place I was staying the next day. She replied "well what do you want me to do about it?" To which I replied" fix my car like said you would in the first place." She hung up on me. At this point I'm 5 states away from home with my husband and 2 sons . One of which is 7 years old. And tired of staying in the room. So we rented a car and took a cab to go get the rental car. I called the company up once again to inform them I needed my carseat. While there the garage manager assured me he had his 2 best men working on my car. I call them the next day (check out day) and they inform me its not not done but it will be in 3 days. By this time I've pretty much had it with these people. Since I had no place to stay I left my car in Florida and rented a car to get home in. They called me the day after I got home to inform me they had started on my car. I ended up pretty much just giving them my 2004 Intrepid because obviously they don't know what they are doing. I've never been treated so badly in my life. This place is over priced and incompetent.

I have a 1998 Toyota Camry that I have spent a lot of money to keep in good shape, and last year 2014 I had struts , rack opinion, tie rod ends inner and outer , power steering pump, Motor mounts , two CV axles, new brakes, rotors, and for brand-new Michelin tires put on my car , and I regularly take my car for full sun thetic oil changes tire rotations and alignments and transmission flushes, for the past few months I noticed strange noises when I turn my steering wheel left or right , so about 10 days ago I took my vehicle to AAMCO transmissions to have it inspected , They told me they found two issues with my car one was bad wheel bearings and the other was a power steering pump leak, i then asked the manager to make sure that the only

leak was coming from the power steering and he assured me that he only found one leak in my vehicle which was my power steering pump, so I approved of the service to get the wheel bearings replaced and the power steering pump replaced, Upon picking up my vehicle and paying my $1500 bill I asked the manager to make sure there were no other leaks for a second time so I would not have to bring the vehicle back and he assured me there were no other issues with the vehicle he even complimented me on how well I take care of the car, so I retrieve my vehicle and as I pulled into my house I noticed upon getting out of my car that my vehicle was leaking power steering fluid from the bottom severely so I took the vehicle back, and had them look at the car again and they tell me my rack opinion was now leaking power steering fluid and I was going to have additional cost for repair,

Little do they know I have been in the car business for several years and I know that when you get a rack opinion replacement, it should last a lifetime unless you get into a violent accident etc, my car NEVER LEAKED POWER STEERING FLUID LIKE THAT PRIOR TO BRINGING THE VEHICLE TO THEM AND TYPICALLY An auto mechanic would know to check the rack opinion if they notice the car is low on power steering fluid, they were able to allegedly see that my power steering pump was leaking but they could not find that the rack opinion was leaking. I have a hard time believing that they didn't notice power steering fluid leaking the way it was prior to me picking up the car especially if they changed the power steering pump, I feel that I should not have to pay for the rack opinion replacement and I honestly believe they did something to my rack opinion that was a brand-new rack opinion that was

put on 25,000 miles ago, Aamco transmissions is giving me run around about how they did not notice that my rack opinion was leaking when they allegedly found my power steering pump was leaking, It just does not make any sense to me nor did it make sense to any other mechanic that I've spoken to , Several mechanics feel that AAMCO transmissions mislead me and possibly sabotaged my vehicle so I can bring it back to them, now my car is undrivable until I get the rack replaced and I do not feel that I should have to pay for a rack replacement, I feel that it is their responsibility, I would never recommend anyone take their vehicle to them because they will manipulate you now my car is undrivable until I get the rack replaced, I have proof that I've had the rack opinion and the power steering pump not even six months prior to me bringing my vehicle to AAMCO transmissions, and I'm in the process of finding out how to take legal action against them because I know that this is fraud

Dropped off my saturn aura xr for transmission issues bc firestone nearby referred me. Next day, no word from these guys at all. Upon researching reviews on this place, i decided to just go pick my car back up to bring to another shop jus before they closed again. Upon my arrival, i overheard the two mechanics discussing my car in back. One guy shouted to the other, "theres a silent recall warranty for this but i'm not telling the guy" Me), the other one shouted back, "neither am i". I walked around the building to the garage door to make it appear like i just ariver to the shop. The mechanic rich proceeded to tell me what was wrong with the car and that it would cost min. $3500. There was no mention of the silent recall or extended coverage offered by gm they were secretly discussing before. Too bad though rich, i really wanted things to work out and find a trusted mechanic like we discussed when i first dropped the car off. One of the first things you told me was that u make sure you are honest so that u can sleep @nite.

I took my car in for repairs, and they "accidentally" knocked a rock into my engine which destroyed one of the cylinders. I was in the process of moving 350 miles away and had to leave my car there. I had no car for 3 weeks in a new city. They did not reimburse me for any traveling costs to pick up my car, and still charged me $1200 in repairs.

I was able to get the car to my new home, but it was not working correctly and they also broke the air conditioning. I took it to AAMCO in my new city since the work was supposedly covered by a warranty. They found that the cylinder head which was supposedly repaired was badly warped. They couldn't do anything unless the AAMCO that originally destroyed it agreed to repair it. Guess what? They never called back.

The car doesn't work, but I'm still paying AAMCO for the $1200 in repairs. Please don't ever go to AAMCO. They are obviously horrible mechanics, and even more horrible with their customer service. It is criminal what they do. They literally destroyed my car.

Put my car in the shop in February 2015 to have the transmission rebuilt. Aamco, Inglewood, Ca charged me $3005.05 and to this day they still have my car. I have called several times to no avail. They always tell me that they will call me the next day and they never do. Derrick Walker is the owner who refuses to speak with me and Jessie continues to lie about the status of the repair.

I have asked on many occasions to let me take my car elsewhere to have it repair and have Aamco pay for the repair, Aamco says no! Aamco, to date still has my car. From February to June 2015.

My issue started back in March 10th 2014, that's when the contract was signed to work on my transmission. I dropped my car off at AAMCO in Fremont Ca and that's when I talked to the manager Zachery and he said he would look at it and get back to me. Well one week went by and I called him and he had not had a chance to look at it, two weeks went by same thing not yet problems with employees, third week just got to it and he let me know. By the forth week on April 17th he called and said it would cost a $1000.00 to start the work. On May 6th ZAchery called again and said its going to cost another $1090.00 plus &2000.00 for the whole thing.

Well I got my car back in late September and this is after me calling him almost every week between the months that went by. Zachery textEd me and said that he was going to refund me $500.00 because it took so long, and they didn't even connect the overdrive system.

Heres the kicker while my car was in there parking lot it got hit in the front end driver side and when I pick up the car I noticed it and called Zachery out to see the damage and he acted like he didn't know about it and said he would talk to the owner and the insurance would take care of ita. I didn't hear from them so I called again and talked to Mr Malik the owner and he said bring the car back he'll have a friend look at it and fix it well I said for one I had moved to Hercules Ca and I wasn't bring the car back because I was still working on it. I've called and left message for ZAchery and the owner and no response, I even contacted corporate and he called Zachery and MR Malik and Zachery told corporate that he already had credit my account and the MR Malik would contact me. Well I'm still waiting for the $500.00 dollars and for Mr Malik to call me. I think it's time to take them to court, they are very dishonest people that work there and they lie about everything .

Plain and simple.. I took my 2007 Chevy impala there June 5th 2015 at 730 am.. I arrived at the aamco at 754 am.. which I was the second customer there.. The aamco opens at 8 am.. it is now 7 15pm and I have yet to hear a word about what is wrong with my car.. I got there told the mechanic I was hearing a noise he then checked it and said he needs to be put on the machine for deeper testing and if I want to leave the car I could he would take the car onto the bay in 20 mins.. so I then told him I would leave and he could call me and tell me what's wrong.. still no word.. I called 3 times 1st two times I was told my car was next in line 3rd time I was told they need permission to do a deep diagnostic test and it would be about 2 hours b4 they knew anything and that was at 1pm... now the timeline.. I reached at 754am left the car at 843am called 1 130 am called again 1225 pm and then 145 pm.. now it is 7pm and they are closed and I still don't know what's wrong with my car nor did they call me to tell me they needed to keep my car overnight.. so not only am I stuck without a car and don't know what's wrong but now I have to pay 142 dollars for a diagnostic test and I still don't know whats wrong with my car.. nor do I have my car..

This complaint concerns H &N Automotive Llc South Clermont Florida an independently owned and operated AAMCO center. The facts are here. You have to make you own judgement as to whether you would use this AAMCO establishment.

On 12/19/2014 our Town and Country was taken to the above with transmission issues. The problem was diagnosed and the remedy was that and, I quote from the sales receipt, AAMCO Banner reconditioned original transmission WITH AAMCO 36 month/50000 mile limited warranty. Total bill was for $2584.96. We were given several completion dates. The only communication was if I rang them. They did not ring as promised with any updates such as transmission arrival. The original delivery date for the transmission came and went. They blamed the suppliers and holidays. Bearing in mind Christmas comes on the same date every year this seems to have caught them out? We waited and waited for our vehicle to be fixed. Eventually we picked it up on 12/31 2014, 12 days after we had delivered it to them. We left with the paperwork that I have quoted from and a warranty.

On Sunday April 26th 2015 the transmission failed, less than 4 months since we picked up the vehicle. We got the vehicle towed back to the garage. First thing on Monday morning I was sat on their doorstep when they opened. I was not happy that after only 4 months the transmission had failed. I heard nothing from them on the Monday despite the fact that I was told they would look at it that day and call me. I called them on the Tuesday to be told that the transmission had failed and they would have to order another one. They told me that their supplier did not have one on the shelf but it was scheduled to be delivered on Friday May 1st. They said they would call me. They didn’t so I called them on Friday. It did not come in. Meanwhile we were forced to rent a vehicle. They expected it to come in on the following Monday and again they said they would ring me. They didn’t. I called them on the Monday to be told it had come in. I asked when the car would be ready bearing in mind I felt like we had been in line for this to be done properly since December 2014. I was told it would be Tuesday but possibly Wednesday. They would call me. They didn’t (see any pattern here?). I called them on Wednesday to be told that it was not finished and they had about another hours work and a test drive to do on Thursday. On Thursday I heard nothing from them. My wife called them to be told that the vehicle could be collected. As I was at work I told my wife to ensure that she obtained paperwork from them as regards this latest repair and supply and fitting of the new Transmission and to ensure that as this was a different unit that the paperwork confirmed that the parts and labor were warrantied for the same 36 months /50000 miles that the first repair was for. Well here is what happened. They refused to supply ANY paperwork as regards this latest repair under warranty. They stated that THERE WAS NO WARRANTY AT ALL on this latest repair. They stated that THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY FROM DECEMBER 2014 was now invalid.

Ok so in December 2014 I had a transmission supplied by them which failed due to no fault of mine. It was warrantied for 36 months or 50000 miles. Only FOUR months later it fails and they have to replace it under warranty. Now they wish to totally wash their hands of the new transmission and labor by refusing to supply any paperwork regarding this latest repair and totally refuse to issue a new warranty on the NEW unit and even go further by now stating that they will not honor the original warranty issued only 4 months ago! Just what is wrong with this picture? If this new unit goes wrong (and they clearly do) in the next 36 months they want nothing to do with it and all the cost will be on me. Really? Have they so little confidence in the products they supply? This unit failed because their supplier failed not me. I had not researched AAMCO prior to taking the vehicle to them in December 2014, I have now an all I can say is WOW, just take a look for yourself and see what customers nationwide are saying. From their advertising they are the experts. Well let me tell you from personal experience now that in my case their communication with their customers is very poor. Their estimation of when work will be completed and parts supplied is always way out. And clearly they do not want to continue to honor any warranty as in my case. I am not saying do not go to this AAMCO franchise because the risk is all yours. If you want to be treated like this and will be happy to go 36 months or 32 months even with the original warranty to run in the knowledge that this franchise will not respect it then I can only wish you the best of luck. I hope this was polite enough because as they say the facts always speak for themselves.

This was my first time using Aamco at any location and I am always skeptical of taking my car to a new shop. It was a Saturday morning & I went in for a state inspection only. I chose this location only for convenience to my house. The guy at the front desk named Dave was very nice & professional. He said the wait was 3-4 hrs and asked if I wanted an oil change. I said no state inspection only so I left him the key and I was on my way. Later that afternoon Dave called me around 3 & told me the car passed inspection but they noticed a oil leak. He said they could conduct a red dye test to find the leak. I told him to hold off and that I will get back with him Monday morning. I drive up to the shop Monday on my lunch break. I spoke to Dave and also his head mechanic. This was my first sign that something was off because why would the head mechanic be on my car for a state inspection. They both told me there was a knocking sound coming from my engine. My car had no issues when I came in. To cut the story short I left the place with a check engine light and also a oil pressure gauge coming on. I got the car towed to my trusted mechanic to do a thorough investigation on the engine. I am waiting to get his conclusion back. Basically I went in for a state inspection and left with a car that now will not start. Watch out for this place I am just waiting for my mechanic(a family member) to find my engine has been tampered with.

I brought my car to Aamco when the transmission went and the car would not move. They charged me $2505. 46 to rebuild the transmission. After a few weeks the transmission started acting up again and the check engine light came on. I brought it back to them and after a few days they said it was fixed again. A month latr same problem. This went on forabout 5 times of me bringing my car back and forth for the same issue. At one point they said they didnt find anything wrong with it (after keeping it for 11 days). Finally I told them I wanted to be reimbused for a rental car while they try to fix my car one last time. They give me a check to cover the cost of the rental and it BOUNCES!! They are a rip off, scam artists and terrible mechanics.

The purpose of this report is to alert potential franchisees to scams this company is running.

I responded not too long ago to an online advertising about a business for sale listed by Aamco.I went to a discovery day in Horsham, PA. After I filled the application and went to visit the center, I was told by JIM DOUGHERTY that I was approved to become a franchisee of Aamco. He also told me that the 76-year old New Jersey franchisee was in bankruptcy and was losing his lease in about a month. He urged me to rush to training in the new university in Newnan, Ga, for 4 weeks so that I can be ready to replace him as soon as possible.

I hired a lawyer who recommended that I went for the training. I ended up leaving my job and going for training in Georgia for 4 weeks. The whole trip ended costing me close to 10 thousand dollars. I also paid Aamco 3 thousand dollars training fee and 5 thousand dollars deposit on the franchise.

I was told by Jim Dougherty, while in training, that I should be ready to close on the store in March 1st, 2015. After successfully completing the training, the nonsense started. First, a couple of weeks passed without any significant news but lawyers arguing back and forth about nothing, then I was told that the landlord was taking a third of the building to rent it to another tenant, then they tried to stick me with a 9% escalation rate, then they went back to reduce my space more after I refused such a huge hike. They also told me that I have to move all the equipment that were on the other side to my reduced space, including a compressor and some building benches.

Each time I agreed to their demands, they came back with another problem. I realized that Aamco shamelessly corrupted my attorney and was in bed with the landlord to defraud me. When Jim Dougherty asked me for a $10,000 deposit on the lease I gladly comply but , as soon as he got the check, he started to make unrealistic demands like moving all the useless pieces of equipment in the middle of the reduced shop floor I was getting.

Two months after I finished training, not a single piece of documents was ever signed to me by Aamco. It became clear to me that Aamco had no interest in giving me the franchise but was using me to get their franchisee out of bankruptcy and potentially sell the place for more money.

Right now, Aamco has not even returned the $5000 deposit I gave them, in spite of me repeated demands to give me my money back.

My advice to any potential franchisee, WATCH OUT FOR THIS COMPANYy!! THEY ARE EXPERT CON ARTISTS!!They choose their prey and run their scam carefully. I don't think they scam everyone but I think, in their mind, I was the weakest link.

POTENTIAL FRANCHISEES, BE AWARE OF AAMCO!!!!!!!

Scott Smith is a liar when he says he warrantied the prior owner's work. What he does or you have to do is contact AAMCO Head Quarters in Horsham, PA and tell them the previous AAMCO store went out of business and you need work done on your car as per your warranty. That is the only way he will honor the previous owners warranty so he can get paid. He did not do this for me. In fact, he told me he when he took over the business, he has in his contact he does not assume any liability from the previous owner. Fine, but, don't keep the previous owner's staff who screwed up my car. Four months before Scott Smith took over AAMCO, I brought my car to that same location and the same mechanics that Scott retained when he took over Jaimie and Ed Gold, miss diagnosed my car problem. They screwed up my car's transmission, the PCM, the electrical system pinching and crossing wires to the fuse box that coast me $2,300.16. For six months I kept having the same transmission error codes that were electrical, putting my care in limp or safety mold, costing me more money because, I tried to get other AAMCO stores to work on my car and they refused. Do not get your car worked on by AAMCO. Do a search on AAMCO and you will see they are the worse car repair company in the country. I went to five AAMCO stores in three states and they won't honor warranty repairs if it is a transmission electric problem or it is inside the transmission. Two, AAMCO won't work on your car if you had a problem with the original store and if you try to get warranty work done at another location, they have to call the store who did the work and they will try to get out of paying for repairs so the warranty is useless. This is what I went through. To get my car worked on, I had to sign a release with AAMCO corporate that I don't make a claim against them or College Station AAMCO. There is nothing I could do since the previous owner went bankrupt and I had to take what I could get at the time. Scott Smith operates in the same building paying a franchise fee using the AAMCO name and he kept the previous owner's mechanics who ruin my car, therefore, he is responsible. Had he not retain the same mechanics, I would not be writing this review and warn residents in Bryan College Station to look elsewhere

It all makes sense now. If there are not only 586 bad reviews on AAMCO. But, someone from the local bonita springs AAMCO can testify. This companty claims they are a family business and only want the best for their users. They are completely opposite. This company has ripped us off and not even fixed our problem in the process. They called us foul names and denied our payment. They did not want us to pay on our credit card because they were afraid we would despute it. This company has obviously had this problem in the past if thats the case. A letter doesn't justify the headache we went through and still have a broken vehicle. The mechanics must be so far uneducated to not be able to discover all the magical problems we had in their diagnostic the first go around. Yet, when brought in on three different occasions in less than 7 days, 3 different problems were there. unthical. They provided us with no solution, no alturnative, just that our vehicle is junk and get it traded in. We did not ask for that opinion, but to have it fixed since we already provided their business with $1000. $400 of it unrecorded. They forced us to pay in cash. I just want to save anyone else from this disaster. Please save your time dont go. Tell all your friends, don't
