ACA Automotive Reviews

I went into ACA Automotive to have a smog check. I brought my son with me for assistance, which I need because I am visually impaired, blind in one eye and very low vision in my other eye.

Victor Paz behind the counter handed me a clipboard to fill out the info on my car and I handed it to my son saying "I didn't bring my reading glasses" Victor whipped off his glasses and made like to hand them to me, I said,"thanks they won't do me any good, I'm blind in one eye." He laughed at that, laughed hard enough to shake his whole body, then he said me too, and continued to laugh.

To me that was very humilitating. Being blind was a very very difficult adjustment to learn to lilve with. It is defintley not a laughing matter, and not a joke.

I sat there in the lobby and debated with myself wheather to speak to him about his behavior and decided not to bother. How he dealt with people's disabilities would not be changed by my bringing it to his attention.

I took my car in for a estimate as my van was not moving forward or backward. I was not told of storage fees. Once I was told the estimate of the repair would be between $2800 - $3200 the mechanic told me I could have time to think about the repair. At no time was I told about storage fees and when I exhausted all my attempts at loans to pay the cost of the repair I went to pay for the estimate and was told since I was not repairing my vehicle there would be a storage fee I would have to pay. The estimate exam was $90 but the total for release of my vehicle was $305. Had I known there would be storage fees I would have taken the car out the same day after the evaluation. At that time I did not have the entire $305 so it would be another week before I could get my car out with another weeks fee added to the evaluation of $90.

The storage fee was not disclosed until after the garage had the car for a week.

Had I been fully informed of the storage policy I would not have left my vehicle there for a week while finding the funds for the repair.

I dropped my vehicle off after hours and filled out a service request on Weds night - September 17th.

September 18th I recieved a call from the mechanic saying they would not be able to evaluate the car until the next day which was Friday September the 19th.

September 19th - Friday - I recieved the estimate and told I could have some time to think about what I wanted to do.

September 25th - I went to pay for the evaluation as I was unable to obtain a loan to repair the transmission and was told since I was not having the car repaired there were storage fees that would be assessed which bought the original total of $90 to $305 and I would not be able to get my vehicle until the total was paid off.
