Accelerated Performance Engineering, Ltd Reviews

Many of you are familiar with the sordid tale of the missing ""AP"" 3.4L 2JZ built by Don Summerton of Accelerated Performance Toledo, OH. Long story short: There NEVER was one even though Donald Summerton charged his customer an exorbitant amount of money for one.

1. Donald Summerton sold RS a bill of goods (trashed 3.4 with no AP serial number and fairly stock head).

2. I bought from RS what RS and I thought at the time was a very low time 3.4L 2JZ built by Donald Summerton of Accelerated Performance Toledo, OH.

3. Upon delivery and inspection, motor has what looks to be minor issues, Donald Summerton of Accelerated Performance Toledo, OH is communicating by email and phone during this whole process with me, Forged Performance, MTI Racing, and the seller, he recommends a flush of the motor and to just run it, not a thing wrong with the motor (of course he knows this whole time it's a complete piece of junk and not an Accelerated Performance built motor and it's ready to blow up and hopefully I will be the one that it blows up on and all evidence goes poof).

4. Secretly, Donald Summerton of Accelerated Performance Toledo, OH makes a trip to Atlanta to inspect the motor while it is at MTI Racing for cleaning. Don Summerton personally inspects the motor and does NOT let anyone know he has done this (me or seller) and secretly scampers back to Toledo, OH.

5. Further inspection reveals worn pistons and scored crank on a motor that supposedly only has 10-12 dyno pulls and 20 miles of street driving according to the seller.

6. Donald Summerton of Accelerated Performance Toledo, OH is still communicating via email and has no idea why that is the case but keeps playing that it is one of his motors.

7. RS steps up to the plate and sends me a $3000 check to reimburse me for freshening the motor...still under the impression that this is an Accelerated Performance built motor.

8. Bottom end is freshened and the motor sits on the stand while I finish building of car. I have not fully inspected the head because for some silly reason I still trusted Donald Summerton of Accelerated Performance Toledo, OH.

9. Car build done and back to work on motor. Figure out that head is fairly stock with incorrect cams and minimal porting. This head is supposed to be the equivalent of a Titan Stage 4 or 5 head, nowhere close. I'm extremely pissed off at this revelation and start asking lots of questions and airing all of my findings on Supra Forums. Lots of accusations between all parties and communication starts back up with Don Summerton of Accelerated Performance Toledo, OH.

10. Donald Summerton of Accelerated Performance Toledo, OH informs me of his visit to MTI Racing almost 2 years prior and says that he personally inspected the motor in question and that based on his inspection, it is definitely NOT a 3.4L 2JZ built by Accelerated Performance Toledo, OH. Don Summerton states that there are several items that prove it is not one of his motors including: blocked piston squirters, no cylinder clearancing for added stroke and most importantly there is no Accelerated Performance serial number stamped above the factory serial number (the AP number should be ACC00145)

11. Donald Summerton of Accelerated Performance Toledo, OH blatantly steers me down the wrong path and starts telling me that I have been MISLED and that is not his motor and therefore something must have happened to it between the time he sold it to RS and delivery to me. He states that I should look to Forged Performance as the potential suspect in the missing Accelerated Performance motor due to their online reputation.

12. Accusations fly and heated discussions happen on SF. I post all the evidence I have generated to this point including pictures of the motor prior to delivery and as delivered. A fine gentleman on SF uses rocket scientist skills (seriously, he's a rocket scientist) to analyze several photos which discredit Donald Summerton's misleading accusation of Forged Performance. Donald Summerton then steers me to UMS Tuning and that they must be responsible for shipping me the incorrect motor after pulling it from RS’s car.

13. After all the manipulation, devious business practices, and outright lies, we figure out that there NEVER was an Accelerated Performance built 3.4L 2JZ motor to begin with. Don's the one that informed me it wasn't one of his motors (even though it was the ONLY motor ever in RS’s car which was built by Don and which RS paid a very large amount of money for). Don then convinced me that the AP motor (with AP serial number AC00145) must have been stolen at some point...big lie. He accused Forged and then was complicit in agreeing that it must have been UMS Tuning that stole the motor when all along he personally knew that he had never put it in RS’s car to begin with...what a royal screw job. Now I'm here to be made whole. I have requested settlement in the exact amount of money that I spent to correct all the issues with the motor, Don has chosen not to reimburse me, therefore I will tell everyone I can reach how he conducts his business. This is the beauty of a free-market capitalism economy.
