I have never had a bad experience renting a car until I came to Alamo Rent A Car. I chose this rental company because it was a great price and very convenient to the airport. Picking up a car is easy and can be done at a self-service kiosk where you simply slide your license, pick up a contract, walk outside to pick a car and then drive off. You never have to come into contact with anyone.

I chose the kiosk option, and wouldn't you know it; when I returned the car, there was damage. I literally had the car for 10 hours, drove straight from the airport to my home where I have parked for 8 years without a problem, and then straight to the rental unit. I never caused any damage whatsoever and when I returned the car I was accused of causing $800 worth of damage. I am now dealing with their "Damage Recovery Unit" which is basically a collection agency for Alamo.
GOOGLE: ALAMO CAR RENTAL SCAM and see for yourself. This is now a well document problem online and I am going to fight this.
I am in talks with a lawyer friend who is helping me file a small claims case against this company. I am contacting the California Attorney General to file a complaint and I will be contacting my local media outlets to look into this matter. I have been told it would make a good news story investigation. I will also be spreading the word online on any media outlet I can. #ALAMOCARRENTALSCAM
I will update this review with progress as I go, but be forewarned. I would not trust my business with any company with these types of practices and I advise you to be careful with your dollar. This may not happen to you and you may have a wonderful experience. Take your chances....or don't. You have been warned.
I rented a car at Sanford Airport (Orlando). I had prepaid for the car using a package deal with Cosmos, which clearly states that CDWs and unlimited mileage etc. are included. The guy asked me if I wanted to add another driver, GPS, re-fuel on return, baby chair and I said no. Then he said to initial the forms - I did not know that I was authorising another $405.40 to be added to my bill for Collision Damage Waiver and Extension - Time and Distance! In the past, I have always been asked if I want that and I always refuse. I complained to Alamo online and they said tough luck and that I should have read what I was agreeing to!
I say that this is fraudulent because they did not ask me if I wanted it and effectively charged me twice over for the same thing.
