Ambit Energy Reviews

Over promise cheaper electricty rates and over deliver actual charges !

Was a former customer of TXU for 20+ years and was expecting a monthly savings from Ambit based on marketing propoganda. Made a switch to Ambit and based on the first 28 days of service, my bill was 70% higher----I had not made any changes in my home electricity usage. I decided immediately to pull the plug on these PARASITES when I could not get satisfaction from their customer service department. I went ahead and paid their final bill and expected that to be the end of this bad experience. WRONG--these LEECHES reported me to all the credit bureaus for a late charge of terminating my contract. Now my 800+ credit score has dropped below 700 ! Stay away if you are approached about becoming a customer or customer rep. (Sales program is a MLM) This is a modified PONZI scheme and you will be burned !

Thank goodness TXU welcomed me back with open arms and my savings began again.

I joined Ambit Energy in 2012, with the promise that my energy rates would always be lower than ComEd. I haven't paid much attention to my bill, only to purchase a pool in 5/2014. This was shortly before ComEd rates were to go up by 30%. My first bill was $260, which I attributed it to being the first month with a new pool and running the motor 24/7. The second month, my bill was $195. The third month, it was $207. I called, as the pool was barely running and our air was not on much. Once I looked at my bill, I noticed that I have been paying .12270 per kwh. After reviewing energy rates online, I realized I was being charged almost double. When I called Ambit, they fixed my rate at 6.95kwh. However, they said that they would not backdate the charges because they sent me a letter. When I told them I never received a letter, they told me there was again nothing they could do since they sent me a letter. Melissa told me to call ComEd to see if they could back date it, since they do the billing.

When I called ComEd, I was told that Ambit Energy just told me to call ComEd to get me off of the phone. There was nothing that they could do, as Ambit was the service provider.

I called Ambit back, speaking with Theresa. Theresa reiterated that there was nothing they could do because they sent the letter. I again told her that I never received it. At that point, I asked for a supervisor. My call was sent to Ryland in the escalation department. Ryland reviewed my account, put me on hold again, then came back and said there was nothing he could do because they sent a letter. I again said that I did not receive a letter. Ryland told me that since it was not sent back as returned mail, there was nothing he could do. I asked for his supervisor, which he told me none were available. I said I would hold. He came back on the phone three additional times, telling me no supervisor was available. I was promised a call back by end of business day. I asked them to cancel my service - which I was told would take 18-45 days.

The amounts over charged to my electric bill amount for $125-150 over the past 60 days. Evidently, my rate has been variable since July 2013. How much do you think I was overcharged during that period? I am just sick that I didn't pay closer attention. My consultant was a family friend that I have known my entire life. I thought that I was getting the best rates. Shame on me. Please don't let this happen to you!!!
