American Protection Corp. Reviews

American Protection Corp. made an illegal call to me (I'm on the National Do Not Call Register) and attempted to rip me off by trying to sell me a virtually worthless "extended warranty" for my eleven year old vehicle for $3,230. The American Protection Corp. agent, Jason Moss, told me that American Protection is the company that is responsible for the manufacturer's warranty and this would be an extension of it with exactly the same coverage and conditions which is an absolute lie. I asked him to e-mail the proposed contract. He said he will only send it to me if I make a down payment of $495. After much rudeness and excuses on his part, he finally agreed to e-mail a copy to me.

After I read it, I understood why he didn't want me to read it before paying for it. Everything he told me was a lie. Instead of being an "extended warranty," the contract was a vey limited service contract. It contains numerous specific exclusions of a wide variety of components that are covered by the manufacturer's warranty but are not covered by this service contract. Worse, the contract contained clauses that would allow it to deny nearly any claim for repairs such as pre-exising conditions. People usually think that would only be for something that was broken before the contract was in effect. But the clause is so broad that it allows them to deny reimbursement of repairs by saying there must of been some design defect or wear if the part failed. This makes the contract virtually worthless. You'd only find that out when they denied your claim. Making matter even worse, the contract specifies that any dispute about claims be decided by an arbitrator they select and pay. That means you give up your rights to have any grievance settled in court and use their hired arbitrator.

The company listed in the contract as the administrator is Royal Administrativd Services, Inc., Hanover, MA. Customer service reviews on file with the BBB indicate that 92% of customer gave the company a negative review. This percentage is much more important than the BBB's rating since the BBB is mainly only concered that the company responded to the complaint. Don't be fooled by high rating given to companies by the BBB.

I would have been out $3,230 if i had fallen for the lies and misrepresentations of American Protection Corp. and bought their virtually worthless contract. Worse, I may not have known that the contract was worthless until I had a breakdown and had my claim denied. The company promises that they will return your money if you cancel within 30 days. However, all of these "extended warranty" scammers are notorious for not providing the promised refunds. If you ever make the mistake of making a down payment for one of these worthless extended warranties, be sure to cancel it within 30 in writing via certified mail so you can prove you did it timely. Then file a dispute with your credit or debit card company.

Ludicrous claims!

First of all, let me say that this initial claim is ludicrous. I have worked for Kobi in two different companies at this point and Kobi prides himself on being fair and honest.

The management team at American Protection Corp. works hard to assure our customers are always happy. We offer vehicle service contracts...no false advertising here, that is exactly what it is. We work with reputable companies and have honest, hard working team members working together to make our customers as satisfied as possible. We provide a 30-day review period, a 30-day money back guarantee and A+ rating.

In addition I would like to mention that if you are getting the runaround from the company as far as being hired is concerned, maybe you're just not qualified or someone the company wants to bring on to represent American Protection Corp.? You have no leg to stand on and no place posting in this forum!

I am writing this of my own accord with no knowledge of Kobi or other team members. I believe in my boss and resent your unfounded and ignorant implications!

Truth Hurts?!

Right, that's why this forum is called "SCAM.org"...So technically, there is justification for complaints.

As far as not qualified, there are no background checks conducted and potential candidates are selected from an ad on Craigslist. Top of the line recruiting if you ask me.

And how much were you paid to post false misrepresentations? Bottom line is go back to peddling your grossly overpriced garbage of a service contract and spend less time trying to convince us that your company is honest and reputable! And p.s. The only ignorant one on here is you trying to make anyone believe your company is anything other than a joke!

This company is working in total non compliance with nearly all regulations. Obatining customers information in shady ways. They will never let anyone know how they got their information. Which is shady in itself. If it was legit they woud tell. They dexcribe their product as an extended warranty. It is a vehicle service contract. Only the manafacturer can extend the original warranty. They use deceptive marketing and very vague descriptions of the covered parts. This is how the manager Kobi trains the reps. He instructs them to be very vauge so the customers dont start looking into the actual contracts details. They do this because the contracts have lots of exclisions and the parts that are covered are not the ones that typicaly fail.

He draws employees in off of craigs lists ads and promises them one thing and then changes the pay structure almost right after their first sale.

You get nothing in writing explaining comission stucture. Just his word. The customers in end are usually scammed and so are the employees. One employee reported to me that he was not paid over $ 1,500.00 in commission. Not to mention these " extended warranties " are grossly overpriced. They pay around 1000 for the contracts ( or less) and then market themto customers for around $3,000.00 or more.

This company hires remote agents to work from home with no crimianl background check. So anyone could have access to financial information. Even people with a history of credit card fraud. Nothing prevents an agent from writing all the information down at home and saving all of a customers information. Its a small company operating under the radar. This is why they have managed to only have one complaint in 7 years and and A rating on the BBB. They are just under the radar. Florida is not on to the car warranty scam quite as much as some other staes like Missouri. Thats why Im blowing the whistle on Kobi and American protecion corperation . Not only buyer beware but anyone considering employment with this company should think again.

Agreed!

Thank you for the heads up! I had considered employment with them but after getting the run around, I realized I would be better off seeking employment elsewhere. Finding this post today hit the nail on the coffin! Any potential job seekers...beware! Don't get suckered in to the false promises as I did!

Is this a JOKE?

Hello,

I was very taken back when I came across this complaint. I have worked with Kobi, and American Protection Corp. for over two years. Anyone that knows or has worked with American Protection Corp. knows these accusations are completely false Information is not obtained in shady ways; It is always very clear that we are a third party company offering a VSC for consumers and that we work with only the best carriers. We also offer a 30-day review period and 100% money back guaranteed with no questions asked.

From day one I was instructed to not only go over and list every covered component with customers but inform them exactly what is not covered as well. The management team at American Protection Corp. will accept nothing less and has made our customers the number one priority as long as I have been here.

As far as commissions and taking care of employees, not only was I provided with my exact pay structure in writing but also must be accepted and signed prior to my start date.

I have seen Kobi time and time again give myself and others going through a hard time extra monies on top of what they are owed. I can’t tell you how many times Kobi has bailed me out as well as others on multiple occasions. Through my most difficult times Kobi more than once has picked me up and helped me back up when I had nowhere else to turn. I am furious and insulted that anyone that has truly worked and gotten to know him could possibly lie and completely make up this story. Kobi cares about the company’s customers and team members more than any manager I have ever worked for.

Whoever wrote this was obviously someone who has failed and has nothing better to do. Anyone reading this please consider the source and try finding another bad review out there! There isn’t one. And the source writing this has 9 misspellings in his first paragraph! I stopped counting after that. I find it amusing that someone that can clearly not read or write past an elementary school level can judge how a company should be handling their business. Just because you could not do your job and are this unhappy with yourself, there is no need to spread these lies and discourage someone starting a career with American Protection Corp.
