hi quality antique radiator repair

took my antique/street rod radiator to these guys to have it checked before the fall season. cleaned and tested, repaired, under $100.00--a new one was about $500.00. cools great--good service. boy, they know their antique radiators!!

I took a radiator there to find out how much to have it re-cored. I was told they would call me after they measured and got a price. I waited and waited but no call. I contacted them twice in the 2 weeks they had it and only got excuses. I'm a car guy and have dealt with MANY businesses and have never been treated this way. Finally tired of waiting, I went to get my radiator and take elsewhere. As soon as I told them I wanted my radiator because it was almost 2 weeks and nothing has been done, the lady said "oh, I got that price for you, let me total it up" and she came back with a ridiculous price of well over $500 dollars! (this is only a small 2 core radiator btw) I got excuses about inflation, prices of copper have gone up, etc.

I told them to forget it I'm going elswhere but then they charged me $42.50 because they have a policy that if they test or clean a radiator even if it's not repaired by them, they charge this "service fee".

This is total BS and a scam! I never asked them to leak test or clean it, I only wanted a quote! I knew it leaked, that's why I was there! If it wasn't from an antique car of mine I might have walked out and left it behind with their "service charge" but I could not.

This is a scam and terrible business practice. They don't need to do any real work, just string you along and do a quick cleaning/test and they get $42.50 for nothing. You get to either pay the "ransom" to get your radiator back or have them actually do the work and really get taken. (and heaven knows how long that would have been if it takes 2 weeks to get a quote!)

response to review t ocustomer who wanted "free" work

Upon entering Antonini Radiator, Inc., the customer is greeted with signs explaining our company's procedures, warranty info, labor rates, etc. They clearly state, and in large enough and in full view signage:, "I understand that Antonini Radiator, Inc., MUST clean and test all radiators and components before any accurate pricing can be given, or before a component will be considered for evaluation. …An estimate can only be given after cleaning and testing...." "I agree to all charges and work procedures....I understand, agree to, and accept the terms and conditions and agree to have Antonini Radiator, Inc, the above item".

Upon reading our terms, if the customer does not like what they state, he can simply take the job out of our building before it is left there. The customer in question agreed to all of our conditions and terms, and by signing the agreement supported the service charge and understood there would be one imposed once the component was left in our facility.

As stated previously, all radiators, etc, dropped off at Antonini Radiator, Inc., like most repair facilities require a $40.00 drop off fee to evaluate the component. As stated in our drop off service agreement, we do not give free estimates, as time and cleaning chemicals etc, must be considered.

A lead time, for antique radiators, of 7-14 working days is not unheard of in this industry. After a price is quoted, if the customer proceeds with the work, the service charge is credited to their total bill and therefore deducted. This particular customer did not want that option and took the radiator out of the shop, not wanting to have it service. Therefore the service fees still applies due to the cost of evaluating, measuring etc, the radiator. We also tried to contact the customer on two occasions but did not get a phone response, and it is our policy not to leave messages with prices, but to talk to the customer directly.

I feel this complaint is not justifiable.
