Apex Systems Inc Reviews

I'm not sure if this is a story you are interested in but sitting back and doing nothing does not seem like the right thing to do. Back on April 25th I was contacted by Colleen Campbell of Apex Systems about a help desk position at Dell and she requested that I send in my resume. I was working at Calsonic Kansei at the time and looking for other employment that would be a better fit with my degree in Computer Information Systems.

On April 29th I was scheduled to have a phone interview and on May 1st I was hired and asked to complete the paperwork for security clearance. To say the least I was very happy with this. I would be closer to home and I would be doing a job that went with my degree.

Due to all of the clearance paperwork I was not given an immediate start date. It took another month before I would know when I could start. This wasn't an issue because of the fact that I was currently working. Over the course of the next month I was asked to complete paperwork, drop it off at their headquarters in Nashville, complete fingerprinting, etc. etc. I also spoke almost daily with Colleen about this position and given any updates that came about.

My problem came about on June 17th. I was contacted by Colleen on June 10th about the position. They wanted me to start the next Monday. I explained my concerns with this because I am a single parent of two children. One of which, my seventeen year old daughter, was pregnant. I didn't want to risk leaving the company I was at with no notice. Colleen said she understood my hesitation but guaranteed me that although short notice this was sure position. She also told me that if I did not start on the following Monday it would be another month to two months before I would be able to start if at all. Not wanting to lose the chance to take this position with Dell I foolishly agreed to start on Monday.

I assured myself that this was going to be okay because Dell was such a big company. It wasn't like they didn't have open positions there and this would be my foot in the door so to speak.

I started my position with Dell on Monday went through a week of training and the company laid everyone off in that class.I was devastated. I called Colleen back and asked her what was going to happen now? I had left a steady position with good pay, bonuses, and vacation time to take this position in good faith after her assurances and now I had no job.

Colleen once again assured me that there was another position that she could get me into. On June 19th I was asked to interview for the 2nd position; which I did. What else could I do at this point? I now desperately needed a job to support my children.

Once again I was hired for the position but more paperwork had to be turned in. This time it was for public trust clearance.

On July 3rd I was sent an email stating that she did not believe that this position would start on the 8th as originally planned. Apex Systems drug this stalling out until July 12th where a conference call was requested and everyone on the line was told that there was a hold on the contract that could last anywhere from two weeks to two months.

I called Colleen as soon as the conference call was done. At this point I was mad, shocked and panicky. I had bills coming due, I had no responses from other companies that I had sent resumes out to and I had children at home to support.

I got the standard comment about how sorry she was, and that she understood.

Every couple of days I would get a message stating that they were still looking for start dates, then these stretched out to weekly, now it is every couple of weeks.

I took this position at Dell to advance my career not to risk everything I had built in the last two years. Due to leaving my last position for this one I now have had to go on government assistance (something I haven't been on in 20 years), I have had to borrow money from relatives just to keep my lights on, I have no insurance, and I am now at the risk of losing my home to foreclosure.

Just because Dell and Apex are big companies they should not be allowed to do this to honest, hardworking people. I know that I was not the only one effected by this but at the moment all I can think of is how do I support my children and now grandchild after all of this? My credit score has now dropped because I can't pay my bills, I'm running the risk of losing my home, and I have no idea when I will; find another position.

The emotional toll and stress they have caused is something I hope no one else has to go through. I have kept all emails concerning Dell and Apex Systems if you are interested in seeing them.
