In 2013, our builder installed Wood of Distinction Acacia in both the lower and upper floors of our new construction home. Within 3 months, we began to notice significant gapping between each board. Given we were headed into winter months, and hardwood floor is known to shrink and swell with humidity levels, we were told that it was normal shrinkage and that it would "swell" in the spring/summer months back to its original state. We have now gone through both the spring and summer seasons and the gaps remain. At the instruction of the flooring company that sold the product, we hired a certified hardwood floor inspector through the NWFA to come and assess the flooring. They determined that the flooring gaps were attributable to a manufacturer defect. The report was forwarded to Ark for review. Not wanting to be held accountable for manufacturing a defective product, they have denied our report claiming that it is inconclusive despite the assessment being made by a nationally certified inspector. We will now be taking legal action. I would suggest that unless you like the look of cheap, gapping floors, that you avoid ANY dealings with this company. Buyer Beware.
