I saw an out of state dr while away on a business trip. The dr was in-network according to the BCBS online search. However, AR Blue Cross Blue Shield would not pay, claiming the dr. was out of network.
This shouldn't have been a problem, so I questioned them. The representative became very defensive and said that I can only use a dr within the state of AR. They do not use the national BCBS network. They created their own little network of drs and hospitals, which doesn't include out of state healthcare providers.
This is terifying, especially since I have to travel so much for work. It's also terrifying to know that if I need out of state speicialist care, it won't be covered.
