DON’T buy ASUS Products – Very, Very BAD.

This company sold my husband a lemon; he sent it back to be fixed.

They “fixed” it by loading it up with malware.

Details:

In late May 2014, we bought an Asus Computer, Serial number E2N0CX0498494069.

In November 2014, the Wi-fi card went bad, and we were unable to connect through the wi-fi.

After much going back and forth, we sent the computer back for repair.

It supposedly was repaired on February 21, 2015.

We received the computer back on February 25, 2015

All still within warranty.

When my husband booted up, hundreds of pop up windows started blooming on the screen, suggesting implanted malware.

He can't use tech support because tech will only answer through the affected computer, and the affected computer does not work because it's infected -- typical Catch-22.

It is so badly infected that our virus software (Kaspesky) can't deal with it. When we sent it to the repair center, it was clean. I can only think that a disgruntled employee decided to do some damage, but no one seems to want to do anything about it.

Best Buy, where we purchased our computer, tsked, tsked us because we didn't buy their "service policy" and sent us on our way.

We can't get the attention of Asus because we can't get in touch with them through the infected computer.

We would like a refund so that we can buy a computer that works properly and from a company that stands behind its products.

Laptop RMA was issued for repairs of a unit that was barely out of warranty on a failed hard drive. They agreed to repair it, issued a full RMA and gave us option to send us the part or send them the whole unit, so we opted to ship them the whole unit. we confirmed RMA is for full repairs, and unit was shipped for $20 that we had to pay to get it to California. it took ASUS over a week to acknowledge the unit had arrived even though it only took 4 days to arrive thru Fedex. when they finally told us they have it in their "System" we asked when to expect the repairs, only to be told it will cost us $125 to repair it. we told them they were supposed to cover the repairs per the RMA but they refused to acknowledge that and they said they had the unit and we have to pay. so we refused to pay and asked for the unit to be shipped back to us so we can do our own repairs. then we asked them to at least send us the part which they had promised to ship to us, but they also refused to honor that RMA. so bottom line they are cheating, lying, and scamming POS company that do not stand behind their products or their RMA's, and they rather piss off a customer than pay a few buck to fix a unit that is less than a year old! shame on them and the bad quality they are sending out, and i would naver buy nor recommend their POS brands to anyone, and neither should anyone else.

ASUS offered a rebate. You must fill out the forms and mail in the “Original UPC/Serial Number Barcode Label” In the form was a picture of the Barcode. The picture was small and the form also stated “Please locate the (Proof of Purchase) barcode label on your product box or shipping box similar to the one below. Cut out the barcode label and attach to form.” I attached the similar barcode but it was rejected with the quote “Required Documentation missing-Original UPC/Serial Number Barcode Label”. There were two labels on the box one was a serial number with, I believe was another code. I don't have it since it was sent with the rebate form.Did they want both Barcode labels? The form was not clear as to which label was needed. Sounds like an easy way to not send you your rebate.
