My daughter contacted my At&T Tech support on 5/1/14 because of a WiFi connection problem on her cell phone. At&T took control of my computer and then told me that they cant fix it but they discovered 8,400 security breachs and that they had to immediately fix it. They showed us screen shots when they took control of my computer so we took pictures of it. My daughter called me at work while on the phone with at&t explaining what they told her and asked if it was ok that they transfer her to a level 7 tech. I asked if it could wait until I got home but they said it was imparitive I do it now so I said ok so they transferred her to Global Tech. Global Tech spent 3 hours trying to fix the wifi problem but could not but they did fix the computer compromise so they made an apt with At&T, which I confirmed and At&t came over the very next day to replace the modem.I saw something suspicious on my computer with regards to the wifi so on Sat 5/3/14 I called At&T again and they said they never heard of Global Tech. Global Tech is based in India so it seems there may be a tech that is working for At&t referring calls there possibly? I called at&t again on 5/5 and they said they would call me back, which they didnt. As of today 5/6, I have not heard back from At&t as they said they have to research this. I posted my concerns again on the At&t community website and someone called back but said the same thing. They dont know how or why they would transfer me to an outside source and that Global Tech is not someone they would use as tech support. I am worried that my computer is compromised but AT&T says that since they replaced the router all is more than likely fine. I don’t buy it. I did get my $199.00 credited back as I disputed the charge from Global Tech. I feel that after talking to 5 reps from At&t and no one calling me back that they are either hiding something or they dont know what happened but are basically done with this problem and are not taking responsibility for this. I would like them to set up someone to come to my house and see if there are any compromises to my computer or if there is anything suspisious going on that Global Tech did while they had control of my computer for 3 hours. Is my computer compromised now???? Is there any damage to my identity at this point. Why do I have to pay for someone to check out my computer and have to pay for it when my original call was about a signal to a cell phone? Please beware when you get involved with outside sources as they may be doing more harm than good.
