At&T Services, Inc. Reviews

I kept getting collection notices on behalf of ATT for the past 2 years, claiming I owe ATT $650.00. I have requested validation on every single one of them and as soon as collection agencies failed to validate the account they would send me a letter advising of closure. However, ATT kept shuffling around and as recently as two weeks ago I received a new collection notice from yet another collection agency.Needless to say I was frustrated by this point and asked for complete information on the source of the claim aside from validation request.

Then I immediately filed BBB complaint, advising ATT that I dispute all charges and asking the ATT to provide me with the following documents:

I ASKED THAT THEIR OFFICES PROVIDE ME WITH COMPETENT EVIDENCE THAT I HAVE A LEGAL OBLIGATION TO PAY THEM THE AMOUNT THEY CLAIM. TO THAT END I ASKED TO PROVIDE ME WITH WRITTEN VALIDATION OF THIS DEBT WHICH SHALL INCLUDE, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO:

1. COMPLETE BREAKDOWN OF THE CHARGES, INCLUDING ALL THE PURCHASES, FEES, SERVICE CHARGES, PAYMENTS MADE SINCE THE ALLEGED ACCOUNT INCEPTION DATE.

2.. COPIES OF ANY WRITTEN INSTRUMENTS WHICH EVIDENCE THAT I INCURRED THE DEBT.AND THESE SHOULD CLEARLY SHOW MY SIGNATURE AND SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER.

3. A COPY OF THE ORIGINAL AGREEMENT SIGNED BY ME WHICH STIPULATES THE WAY IN WHICH THIS DEBT WAS TO BE PAID, INCLUDING HOW THE INTEREST RATE WOULD BE CALCULATED.

4. THE DATE THIS ALLEGED DEBT WAS INCURRED.

My BBB complaint was forwarded to the Office of the President of ATT and I received an email from Robyn G. Shield of the same office, with her direct phone number 847-240-7227 and email address [email protected]

Robyn Shield admitted that she has none of the evidence or documents I requested to substantiate her claim that I owe any debt to ATT.

However, she said, she has copy of an invoice (without any explanation of charges and what they are specifically owed for), and invoice alone is sufficient evidence of the debt.

When I protested and asked for EVIDENCE of debt ( after all what if IF SOMEONE STOLE MY IDENTITY and charges had nothing to do with me at all? How could mere invoice, without any explanation or documentation, serve as PROOF OF INCURRED DEBT?) she quickly ended the conversation and promised to get back to me.

Within minutes I got an email from her advising that "Since we have provided the information required, the invoices and customer service summary, I will advise the Better Business Bureau that you remain unsatisfied."

I went ahead and filed a complaint with FCC , demanding the documents, break down of charges and evidence that I have legal obligation to pay this debt. My next step, if this complaint is not resolved via FCC, is to file a lawsuit in local small claims court and bring ATT to Court to answer my demand for evidence requested or, if unable to provide it, to cease and desist any further collection activities.

This company is a nightmare to deal with. Stay away!

This is a complaint about a large company that I feel is stealing from individuals that have bought a Wireless Data Plan for an iPad or a Tablet.

It cost me $25 dollars to purchase a 1GB Data Plan, this is a complete Rip-OFF... Why ... because I was only able to watch about 25 videos on YOUTUBE before my plan ran out and that was for ... ONE DAY!!

The plan was described as a 3 month plan which I thought would last that long---3 months, the description of the plan is misleading and ridiculously expensive. How can a company be able to charge that much for a data plan, using a mobile network? When I use Straight Talk with my Smartphone and am able to use it all month for $45 dollars unlimited, but this was the same network I was using on the iPad, but it ran out in one day and I only used it for about three hours.

Please could the State, Federal or any Attorney or the FCC out there look in to this , surely this borderlines on fraudulent activity, if not?? It should be !! because they are surely using unfair practices if Straight talk allows it unlimited for only $20 dollars more.

This is the problem with huge conglomerate companies , nobody thinks they have a chance to fight back because AT&T is a monopoly ... It’s the only carrier I can use in my iPad because I purchased my iPad that Apple has contracted AT&T to use exclusively as a carrier for the 4G network.

This will probably never change, as this post will be read by many and I will be forced to pay charges that in my opinion are criminal.

Anyhow, maybe this will go viral or other people will see the travesty in taking advantage of the world by huge companies and recognize why small businesses truly do support the nation economically through local competitive rules with the more favorable ethics :( the online watchdog...I will try to post this on as many website, blogs, groups, social media, news outlets, review sites as possible please spread the word..... We need justice for ...RIPPING OFF THE PUBLIC.. Thanks

I have called AT&T every month to have them explain to me, why, as a customer of 10 years, my bill is 3x that of my 12 year old son. We have the exact same services. There should be no way my bill is 100-120mnth for an individual with a 4g iPhone.

att binds you with unreasonable length term contracts and gross early out fees. There should be a class action lawsuit going on by the public who share my opinions

We have 15 lines in our company with AT&T. All of them are currently blocked to international meaning that you can not dail an outgoing call anywhere outside the US, which means (to me) that if I have an unlmited plan for $100 a month, and all other calls are blocked: I will get a bill for a $100 a month.

The reason we wanted to block anything beyond our plan is to be able to control expensses.

My employees use the company smartphone all day long and dial hundreds of numbers every week. Some found on websites, some are hidden and simply clickable from an icon or a link. We assume, after blocking international that the phone simply will not ring at all if the call is being charged beyond the plan - international fees.

However at&t, till this day, lets the phones dail to all countries with the same country code as the USA which is: 1.

In other words, if I grab my phone and call Canada or the carebeans - The phone will ring and I will be billed. As oppose to dailing to Europe for instance.

Instead of programming their system in accordance with the THREE DIGIT codes that seperates the US from the non US countries, and block these as well whenever a consumer requests an international call blocking, they prefer to call it: the North american continent and claim that they can not block calls to such locations since they have the same (#1) country code as ours here in America.

When you call and complain they say they can not help. when you ask for a supervisor- YOU GET CREDIT INSTATNLY.

when I asked to block a non US area codes - they said it's not possible.

Finally they gave 2 solutions:

1) Before every phone call we make - to check the area code online to make sure it is an american one. (This option will slow down our operation significally).

2) Every time I get such charges - simply to call them and request a refund. (Which sounds abusrd to me)

What reason do they have not to block non US area codes if not to sell us their int. plans or for charging us for phone calls we did not intent to pay for?

I have all the names, department and records of my conversations with them.

Waiting for a response from the Customer Service Manager in TN at this point

About 3 years ago I bought a $400 AT&T smartphone which back then they weren't really too smart. and I picked the lowest data plan they had because I'm disabled and I'm homebound and they told me that it wouldn't cost me nothing search the internet using my router. well the first month's bill was over $1,000. I called him we argue back and forth they're trying to tell me that I was streaming videos or something like that. even one of the technicians that work there told it would be impossible to use within one month the amount of data they were charging me for. I worked for AT&T as a computer engineer I know what I'm doing so I totally disabled than AT&T network protocol so that way it would be impossible for me to use their data to search the internet. and on top of that I never searched the internet at all the second month. but yet I got another bill and this one is for $1,200. I contacted the FCC and filed a complaint against them and got nowhere. till this day I still have a 1200 dollar debt on my credit history for that BS.

AT&T advertises 4 lines for $160. They say you can add additional lines for $15 per line.

I've been a long time customer and am on a share line. I added 2 additional lines recently. They are charging me $40 per new line. When I called, they said the lines needed to be added before February. Even my current bill advertises this special. Misleading and fraudulent advertising. Now I am locked into a 2-year contract with AT&T. I can't get away from them fast enough. After 10 plus years with AT&T, I can't wait to cancel. The customer service rep was "sorry for the inconvenience." This is not an inconvenience. It is unlawful and false advertising.

We changed our wireless plan to AT&T's new plan they keep advertising on TV and Radio to the 10gb plus ulimited talk & text . We were told for 3 lines that our bill would be $145.00 per month our old bill was $167.00 for the past 4 months we have to call and have them reduce our bill cos they are charging us $167.00 now this month they will not change the bill.

My mother is 89 years old and no longer in need of unlimited long distance. Time to reduce cost and simplify to a Local Calling plan.

Over a four month period, 8 change orders show up on the AT&T web site for my Mom's account. (I have them printed out) All say completion date is the date they were entered on the system. Each AT&T person I talked to by phone or web chat said the change was done, then confirmed it wasn't, then assured me it now is done. Every One of Them.

In the 6 total hours I spent on the phone, I heard everything from "We can't do that" to variations on pricing, and, of course, "It's done".

Meanwhile, they kept billing at the higher rate and eventually told me the account was overdue. I got them to do credits, but could not get the actual changes made. I think it now is, maybe, finally done. But, will believe it only after the next bill. I am exploring other phone options for my Mom, but more difficult in her location in Southeast Kansas.

This is supposed to be a cutting edge tech company and, of course, in the service industry, but AT&T does not seem to have a handle on either Tech or Service. Who knows what they will do to Dish satellite service when they buy it.
