Beazer Homes USA Reviews

  • Jun 6, 2015

In Oct, 2013 (like many of the other home owners here), my husband and I bought what was thought to be the single greatest landmark in our life: a new home from Beazer. But, as we (now) look back, we can’t help be realize we were on the receiving end of nothing more than high-pressure sales tactics, and promises never intended to be kept. And no person of any sensible business practice would have (knowingly) purchased within a subdivision if said agent would of (and could have) properly disclosed.

In seven short months following the close of our home (April 2014), Beazer rolled up its carpet and shut its doors. And while all builders are protected under a diligence clause, what “they” and their sales agents are not protected from is intentional and deceptive sales practice. And be it (per NV Real Estate Department), they (Beazer) forfeited their builder rights in April, 2014, I find it virtually impossible that the very same sales agents who would say to the to-be home buyer, “better buy now! Prices are going up! And the way we are building this subdivision will be built by the end of 2015”, were not informed of Beazer’s inevitable Cliffs at Dover community pull-out.

Yes, Beazer builds a nice product. But, they are not foreign to deceptive and misleading practices:

1) May, 1st, 2015, a federal judge in Charlotte on Thursday sentenced Michael Rand, formerly the chief accounting officer for Beazer Homes USA Inc. (NYSE:BZH), to 10 years in prison and three years of supervised release after he was convicted of conspiracy and obstruction of justice: bizjournals.com/charlotte/blog/morning-edition/2015/05/10-year-prison-sentence-for-former-beazer-homes.html

2) In Beazer’s sorted history, they have received everything from grand jury subpoena from the U.S. Attorney's Office, to an informal investigation by Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

3) In 2007 an “abuse-of-trust case" (class action) was filed by 10 homebuyers against Beazer Homes USA, Beazer Mortgage Corporation, and a Beazer sales agent, Roderick D. Williams, in Mecklenburg County Superior Court.

4) Under the deferred prosecution agreement, on July 1, 2009, Beazer Homes USA, Inc. reaches a $50 million settlement of Mortgage and Accounting Fraud with United States.

5) As far back as 2007, Beazer’s held a repeated history of pull-out’s and unfinished subdivisions throughout the country- yet Beazer has always been protected by the fine print... and the above-mentioned is only some of it.

It’s apparent the reach of corruption of Las Vegas knows no boundaries. And It’s time for the residents of Beazer’s “Cliffs at Dover” (Las Vegas) to take a stand, and properly inform any and all future home buyers of any Beazer product to heed caution, as they too could be staring at a vast empty dirt lot of remaining and unfairly depreciated homes- all because Beazer pulled out, and because we were (all) told it would be a finished planned community. I am asking for a full-on investigation from the FBI, and intend to commission a class-action suit on behalf of many of the last-minute home buyers who got suckered in to buying a home here.
