Struggling to find suitable men to date in London, I enlisted the services of Berkeley International who promised a bespoke and exclusive service. I met with their Global Director, Mairead Molly, who invited me to have tea at Sketch in Conduit Street. So far so good. She talks a good talk and explained she had numerous suitable men on her books - from well known celebrities to highly successful international businessmen - all of whom were well-educated, financially robust and sophisticated. She asked me what were the most important things I was looking for, and I told her that I wanted somone physically attractive and who was based in central London. Superficial of me, perhaps, but honest. And I was paying thousands of pounds for it. For £5,000 I would be introduced to 12 men across 12 months, based on the attributes I was looking for. It's a lot of money, and I'm not a particularly high earner, but given I thought I would potentially be meeting a life partner, I thought it was a worthwhile investment. In the end, I went on 3 dates. The first was described to me as a "Russian internet entrepreneur, CEO of his own business, international, sophisticated, stylish, savvy and highly intelligent". We arranged to meet at Zuma in Knightsbridge, a fitting location for what I thought would be a sophisticated date. When the guy turned up, the bouncer almost didn't let him through the door because he was so shabbily dressed and carrying a huge ruck-sack - he looked like a gap year student. I could have done better standing at the bar in my local pub. He barely spoke English, he lived in Reading in rented accommodation from his boss (so he wasn't the CEO of his own company). He was also spectacularly unattractive. I appreciate chemistry is subjective and good looks are in the eye of the beholder, but this man was a million miles from what I was told he would be, and what I had told Mairead I was looking for.

The 2nd date at Kensington Roof Gardens was passable. At least the guy was a professional and spoke fluent English but he lived in the home counties, not central London (and he was bald - no offence but this doesn't fall into my list of physically attractive qualities). The 3rd date was with a guy in Richmond who had a dubious moral compass (he told me he admired the Nazis). I actually felt physically unsafe with him. After this, I totally lost confidence in Berkeley International's ability to arrange any suitable dates. I complained to Mairead and told her I wanted to stop the process as it just wasn't workint out. She initially made sympathetic noises but refused to refund me anything, offering me some additional dates to compensate. When I told her that I felt duped and that her sales pitch had been a con, she became aggressive and uncommunicative. I was livid but also humiliated I had been conned out of £5000. Thank goodness I found this website to finally reveal the truth about her and her company. I know there are many people out there willing to pay a dating agency, and by all means go online and pay the reasonable fees which sites like guardian soulmates and eharmony charge, but please, please don't ever make the mistake of employing the services of Berkeley International. Mairead Molloy and her company prey on single professionals who believe the tosh her website and PR machine peddle. Avoid at all costs. You'd be better off spending £5000 on a fantastic holiday or going out with your friends. I wish I had.
