My mother has been a member at Better Bodies Fitness for 2 years. She does not go for a reason. When she first joined she asked if my youngest sister, then about 8, was allowed to be with her at the gym if she got the buddy pass. They replied yes. Upon entering the first time with my youngest sister, she was told that she was too young and could not stay. So they got her to get a buddy pass under false pretenses.

She signed a contract with them on April 30, 2014. The person she worked with failed to check a rather important box. the non renewal box. They also failed to put any information in the "automatic renewal" portion that would say what the cost would be when she renewed her contract even though she did not want an automatic renewal. Since you do not sign a physical piece of paper and you are actually signing on the belief that they have put everything in exactly as you have been told and/or requested, she ended up signing a contract that they messed up without prior knowledge to it being messed up.

When the automatic renewal came out of her account on April 15, 2015, prior to the end of her 12 month term, she became confused. Upon contacting the location manager she was told that she had come in on April 15, 2015 and signed a new contract. She asked them to print it up because she didnt recall signing one and she would be in to pick it up shortly to which they obliged. Upon entering the establishment we were greeted with "yeah i talked to you on the phone." Followed by multiple versions of "we already called corporate because we knew this would happen"

So not only is the contract full of holes the location manager was rude and condescending. I have never in my life met somebody so rude. He took us to a desk behind the front as soon as we walked in and said he would get it worked out for us. "I'm just trying to help you" was what he said multiple times even though he clearly was not. He also failed to mention that after the contract is up it auto renews on a month to month basis, which we were told upon contacting a different location manager. He had told us that in order to cancel the new contract we would have to pay off the full year.

This location manager is Josh Weinmann. When I asked for a manager because of his attitude, he replied that he was the manager. When I asked for the corporate number he told me that i could call them but it wouldnt do me any good. I am completely and utterly disgusted that any business would make a rude kid in pajamas with no customer service skills a manager of their establsihment. I have heard multiple stories from people in the grocery store I work at which happens to be nearby. I will be making sure this gets to the uppermost person in charge for national fitness. We have contacted a local news station, 9 News, and would appreciate it if anybody else with similar experiences would come forth.
