Brown's Auto Sales Reviews

  • Apr 1, 2015

I purchased a vehicle from Brown's on March 11, 2015. After only driving the truck for 3 miles away from the lot the engine started severely overheating. The sales person Lou had me drive the truck back to the lot, the next day they replaced the radiator and called it good without even checking the heads to see if they were warped or anything else that may have happened while it was overheating. 2 days later the transmission started slipping, I took it back to browns because it has a warranty on the drivetrain for the first 6,000 miles. Lou drove it a couple miles and then called me and said "as far as I'm concerned there is nothing wrong with your transmission." Lou is not a mechanic. I then spoke with the owner Craig Brown, he said "I drove the truck and it drive fine, I promise I'm not going to f**k you"exact quote. I took the vehicle back home, drove it 2 more days and the passenger side window fell down and won't come back up, no problem you can expect an issue or 2 in a used vehicle so I didn't not inform brown's, it wouldn't be covered in the warranty anyways. So 4 more days pass and my girlfriend is shopping and goes to start my truck and it won't start. I come to find the BARE wires dangling from underneath the truck and discover a large oil leak underneath that wasn't apparent when I purchased the truck a few days earlier, so either it was steam cleaned underneath before I purchased it or it started leaking when it overheated 3 miles from purchasing the when I purchased the vehicle. So when I was getting myself out from underneath the truck the front bumper falls halfway off. All of these things happened before I even had the chance to make my first payment. So I used my insurance to have the truck towed back to my house, I called brown's and they said that I needed to find a way to get it to them so that they could look at it. But the next day while I was at work they came to my house without notice and towed the truck back to their lot. I told them that I would like to either have my $1000 down payment back or another vehicle that they didn't "bandaid" together. The only response I have received from their office since then is that the person in the office thinks that they are working on it. Almost a week goes by and their the truck sits still on the trailer. I still have not heard any definitive answer as to what/if anything is going to be done about the truck. I posted of the incident on Facebook so that my friends could try to avoid this dealership. The response from Brown's Auto Sales pertaining to my post "have a good life" looks like I'm out $1000 and a vehicle. Please avoid Brown's Auto sales.
