Carpet King Reviews

BUYER BEWARE; WE WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM CARPET KING AGAIN!

We selected and purchased $5,400 of Shaw carpet from Carpet King for our home office which was installed in November 2014 before Thanksgiving. The installation required us to close our medical equipment distribution business down for three days; one to dismantle and put into storage the work stations, desks, computers, printers, filing cabinets, furniture etc.; a second day for the installation; and a third day to retrieve and reassemble the office and all of the furniture and equipment.

This first carpet installation resulted in mismatched color and installation failures at the seams and Carpet King offered to dye our brand new carpet to make it look OK. We researched carpet dyeing and found that it is an unacceptable long-term solution. So we had them replace it instead.

We had to AGAIN close our business down for three full days. The second installation AGAIN ended up with mismatched color at the seams! AGAIN, Carpet King suggested dyeing our brand new carpet: we had to remind them that we didn’t pay $5,400 for defective, dyed-in-place carpet. They would not refund our purchase price, so we agreed to allow them to try FOR A THIRD TIME to install our carpet. This time we had to select and settle for a different color, since apparently Shaw was having problems with the color that we originally selected.

We now had to close down our business A THIRD TIME, FOR THREE FULL DAYS. This third installation AGAIN resulted in two different colors meeting up at the longest, most visible seam in the room. Having lost nine business days and given Carpet King three opportunities to deliver what we had selected and purchased for over $5,400, we no longer had any confidence in their ability to get it right the fourth time, so we simply asked to have our purchase price refunded, knowing that we will have to put up with two different colors of carpeting at the seam for the next 12-15 years, until we are willing to close our business down for another three days. They refused to refund our purchase price.

When Carpet King’s Customer Service Manager (Giuliano Pascu) and Installation Manager FINALLY came to look at this third faulty installation (only AFTER we filed a claim with the BBB), we asked them if they would be satisfied with this installation in their home and they both stated “probably not”. In fact, they stood in front of us and acknowledged that they saw the same color issue that we see, but stated that they would refuse to tell Shaw about the contradiction between what they were seeing with their own eyes, and what was reported by their “independent inspector” (hired by Shaw) who stated that there was nothing wrong with our carpet. This was the same “independent inspector” who, when in our office in February, stated that the problem was obvious to him, but then in his written report submitted to Shaw, changed his story and indicated that there was nothing wrong with the carpet.

Aside from expecting us to close our business down for a FOURTH TIME (for three days) so that they could install a comparable carpet, Carpet King gave us one other option. We could accept a refund of 1/3 of our purchase price, but only if we signed an agreement stating that we would not write any negative reviews or pursue any legal action against Carpet King! It seemed a whole lot like we were being offered hush money, so we refused to accept this credit because we believe it is more important to make others aware of their questionable business practices so they do not make the same mistake that we made – putting our trust in an unscrupulous company. They are a company that utterly fails at customer service when, after failing three times to deliver what was purchased, they refuse to simply acknowledge that they have disrupted their customers’ lives enough, and that they should just give them their money back without further disrupting their lives and livelihood. We hope that others will read this and not risk going through what we have for the past six months (and we are still looking at two tone carpet).
