Rip Off

I also found their website and had a 5 year old Dell loaded with a Brand New Dell Hard drive. ($55.00) I shipped it to them. Org. offer was $70.00. after 2 weeks they e mailed me telling me they will give me $11.00 for the unit! I e mailed back saying no way. Then they said that they will give me $20.00. Then I said no send unit back to me. Have not heard from them for a week now and laptop has not been returned. Would love to find a real phone number for this place!

I was trying to sell 2 laptops- but was getting a lot of creepy responses on Craigslist; so I decided to see if anyone local bought used laptops- and cashinyourlaptop.come came up on my Google search. The sight asked me 2 questions- and I answered them honestly. I was quoted 94 dollars for one, and the second 140. I wanted to get more- but thought this was the safer option.

When they recieved my laptops- they inspected them and came back with 2 different quotes, I can't remember exactly- but it was less the 20 dollars for each. I immediately knew I had been scammed- and asked them to send my laptops back- but they kept counter-offering me. I played back and forth until I eventually gave up and accepted their FINAL offers.

Mind you- they state that they erase your harddrive- so no need to worry about that- and my screen was broken on one of them- so I could not and did not know how to get rid of pertinent info- on that laptop- and after about 2 weeks- I recieved an email from a guy named Josh- who had bought some parts from a company on Ebay called discountedlaptopparts. He now was in possesion of my hard drive and he had copies and pictures of some very private information- and he emailed all the information on my hard drive to me- At this point I don't know if this is part of this con-artists scam- but all I know is the level of violation rose to maximum. I would love to sue them- I would like to take them down a few notches- but I just want to tell you they are terrible and to avoid getting wrapped up with this nonsense- all they do is lie and put my identity at risk. Wow.

I wished to seel my old laptop so I found cashinyourlaptop.com on-line. Entering the computer model they gave me a quote for my computer and once you agree to the price you ship it to them. My machine was in excellent condition, but it was old. Upon receipt of computer they gave a bogus excuse to devalue the offer. The original offer was for $40, but they claimed my laptop had the follwoing problems:

Touch Pad Palmrest/ Mouse Buttons : Broken or melted plastics

● Keyboard : Worn or faded keys

● Bottom Case/Housing : Broken plastics, vents or latching

and devlaued the sale to $22. If any of these were true, I would have no complaint, but I have pictures to prove that none of these conditions applied to my computer. If it were a more valuable piece of equipment I would have been really upset, but I had read they might pull such tricks.

Turns out those reports were true! I didn't agree to the $22 sale, so they upped their offer to $25. I accepted the $25 because it wasn't worth the hassle to have them send it back (I wonder if they actually would have had I not agreed to the sale). Anyway, beware if you're doing business with these folks.
