I booked a hotel through cheaphotels.com to stay in Legian, Bali, Indonesia. I cancelled the booking accidentally and asked for a refund or for the booking to be reinstated. They refused. At first they agreed to reinstate my booking but then when I asked to be sent through a new itinerary, they did not respond. Then they refused to reinstate my booking or give me a refund. I paid $309 USD. I gave them over a month in notice to cancel the booking yet they stated that under their terms and conditions I was not entitled to a refund. It clearly states in their T & C's, that you can get a refund as long as you give 24-48 hrs notice.
This website is a scam. I tried to contact the Australian version of this website and the phone number on their website is incorrect and has been disconnected. Bad sign! I spoke to countless people on the phone who said they could not give me a refund and it was up to the hotel to give me a refund or reinstate my booking. I rang the hotel in Indonesia twice and they said that they would reinstate my booking. They never replied to any of my e-mails. I ended up getting NSW Fair Trade dept involved and they finally negotiated a refund for me but this has taken a month. Now I will only receive the refund in my bank account two days before I travel and I do not have extra money to book more accommodation. Imagine all the money cheaphotels.com has taken from people and never provided them with a hotel booking in return? This company needs to be shut down!
