Do not hire Chet Darby with Florida Building Services ! I recently hired Chet to be my general contractor on a fha203k home loan. Not only was he rude, stubborn and arrogant, he made a point to add a huge mark up on his sub- contractors bids. Chet charged us 10,000 for flooring, but the sub bid out the job at $4,400. Despite paying the $10,000, the subs refused to repair all of the floors for what they were being paid, and Chet pocketed the rest of the money. The same happened in the kitchen. Chet bid 7,000 for custom kitchen cabinets. We got half the cabinets for the same price. Even though we got lower cabinets only, we still had to pay for the whole job. Not only was he rude, untrustworthy and disrespectful, Chet was also down right the definition of fraud. He forged our names to draw checks, created false innvoices, refused to provide receipts, and withheld our contingency money... because he felt like he deserved more for providing a service. He also tried to extort $5,000. outside of the fha loan, and when we didn't give it to him, he took it out on every project he could. Chet had us pay for architectural drawings in the amount of 1,500. outside of the loan, and once they were paid, he charged us twice as much for the drawings for permitting fees within the loan. He also stole our last $1,000. in contigency money, because he "felt like he earned it for performing a service". He never paid for an exterminator as was outlined under our loan agreement, and our house is 120 yrs old with a history of termites. I fear for anyone who hires him to accomplish their dream of owning a beautiful home. He believes that Government money is "free" money, and has no respect for the fact that you will be paying on his shawdy work for the next 30 yrs! With interest!!!!! He just wants to make as much as he feels he is entitled to, with no regaurd to the customers desires or satisfaction. He should be locked up for government loan fraud!!!
