Chevron Reviews

I think Chevron has gone too far when putting charges in hold to customer's accounts, either on debit or credit cards. I've been reading ripoff reports against Chevron since 2010 and this has really gone to far. At a pump station in Miami, I pumped like $50.00 dollars in gas, and my card was charged $126.00 dollars. Five minutes later my credit card company sends me a message saying two holds have been put in my account by the same merchant (Chevron), on for 48 dollars and the other for $126.00, how come, if I only pumped 48 dollars in gas. A one-dollar hold, or may be a 5 dollars hold would have been reasonable, as it is the practice of Shell stations, who puts just $ 1.00 dollar in hold and just remove the hold before you even get home. So, I returned to the gas station and asked the attendant about this extra charges, he answered they had nothing to do with that, and that this has been happening for sometime, Sometime? MOre than three or four years, but if it's the company's policy, why isn't advertised, because I don't see it advertised anywhere in the gas station. If this is a legal practice, why don't they put a sign at each and every pump at their gas stations. The attendant did not even tell me it was a company's policy and tried to convince me I should call my bank. If that was the first thing I did as soon as I realized about the extra charges. If this company continues with this practice, they are about to begin to lose customers, I'll change to another gas supplier who has no outrageous extra charges and I'll let everyone know about their "legal" practices. Imagine you are running of available credit in your card for whatever reason you have that nobody should care or question you for that, ( as I have seen in prevous ripoff reports), and you want to use your credit card once again and realize you may have over charges at the end of the month for overdraft, you know you have the money, but can't simply spend it because a well-known company, with a high reputation, and highly sophisticated IT systems which allows them to reimburse your money in less than 20 minutes, like Shell. Someone should file a complain or a sue for that. Just imagine you need your card for purchasing an urgent medication for your kids or your pets at some pharmacy or veterinarian store while in the the road, and have no time to call 911, and you realize you have no available funds after pumping at a Chevron gas station. Who do you blame or sue for that? Your bank, of course not. Your bank DID NOT put charges on hold, it was THE MERCHANT. So people out there, stop saying it's the bank. How come. The bank knows how much is your balance and available credit, the merchant doesn't.

So, Chevron, do something about it.
