I needed my treadmill fixed. I stumbled upon choicefitnessrepair.com so I emailed Kevin Oye from Choice Fitness Repair to see if he could help. His initial charge was $75+hst and a possible return charge of $45+hst if required (get parts and install/repair). He came to my home and indicated that it was a problem with the control board. I noticed that the control board was taken out by Kevin Oye and not put back in. He left the treadmill in a fair amount of disarray.

He said he would look up the exact part number of the control board that would need to be replaced and that he would email afterwards so that I could order it afterwards. I didn't receive any information from Kevin Oye over the next few days. I then emailed him to find out the status of the part number. I would eventually get a reply but it sounded like an excuse. I still needed the part number. I eventually tracked down the part number and was prepared to order it. I then contacted Kevin Oye about doing the repair with the hope that he could finish the repair. We then exchanged emails for several weeks (which turned into months) with Kevin Oye providing various other excuses why he couldn't come back to do the repair.

What self-employed business owner fails to follow-up with a customer who is willing to pay him more money to do the work that he is in the business of doing? I paid him in cash on the spot and it is possible for someone to make a decent living ripping people off by performing a "diagnosis" and taking off with their money. I'm betting I'm also likely not that lucky to be the only person ever that has had emails ignored by Kevin Oye from choicefitnessrepair after the 'diagnosis' was paid for. I also suspect that I'm not the only person who has been strung along by his numerous excuses.

I work nearby to the address listed on the Choice Fitness Repair website. I went there to talk to Kevin Oye and guess what? There was no such office listed at that address!!

Don't get ripped off from Kevin Oye from Choice Fitness Repair. Choice Fitness Repair is a FAKE company in which Kevin Oye provides a misleading website, office address, and repair services. Don't believe the service or the warranty that he claims to provide on his website. He is dishonest and unreliable. Be aware of this company and Kevin Oye!

fake company???

Choice is at 1850 Albion road #3. Go talk to him there.

He ordered a part for us and I went there to pick it up. He didn't even mark up the part one me as he gave me the invoice from the vendor. Don't think he is out to scam anyone.

What is your issue????

adjustments

This is Kevin from choice.

I am now listening and learning on ways to improve the customer experience.

One thing I do now...is to make sure that there are parts available for the piece of equipment that is in question. If there are no parts.....I give the customer the option to have me come out

If parts are available, I handle all the parts ordering myself, which is now done immediately after the original appointment.

The whole issue was me trying to everything on my own. Things went through the cracks and I needed to implement a better strategy.

I now have a proper physical location and the help and resources I need.

I had the unfortunate experience of contacting Kevin Oye of Choice Fitness Repair to come to my home to repair my cardio equipment. He promptly came to my home to diagnose the problem. Unfortunately, he indicated that he would be unable to repair it because the piece of equipment that was ordered for the repair was the wrong part.

He stated that he would have the old part fixed and come back to repair it at no extra charge. I paid the $80 fee and he never came back. We exchanged endless emails and he failed to show up for several appointments. He also would cancel several times (at the last minute) with excuses ranging from emergency family issues to personal health issues. He's unreliable and unprofessional.

Like many complaints that have been listed here and over the internet, Kevin Oye is dishonest. Reading the other complaints, it looks like its not even a real business and his 'office' supposedly moves around. I should have done my research before getting ripped off by Kevin Oye from Choice Fitness Repair.

I happen to know that Kevin runs this company on his own and goes out of his way for customers when he can.

Before putting a bad report in him...why not ask him what went wrong???

I have been using his services for everything

Just 2 weeks ago he dismantled a treadmill for us for free and then moved and installed a new unit for us. He is reliable and it is not his fault if vendors go out of business and do not have any parts available.

Not sure where this is coming from on.

Kevin has been maintaining our equipment for 5 years without a hiccup.

He has asked me to put this reply in and i said no problem

Maybe you should believe someone when they say they are sick or having personal issues.

Choice Fitness/Kevin Oye took our money and ran. I contacted him on July 18th 2014, he came to diagnose my treadmill issues, ordered parts and it was downhill from there. Scheduled and reschedule and cancelled appointments without notice in a span of 4 months. He even sent another technician on his behalf, made me pay him another $60 on top of the $80 first visit. His colleague didn't resolve the issue. Kevin was very unprofessional always trying to justify his cancelled appointments. Finally, in the beginning of November 2014 after another failed attempt to come and fix what he promised he would do I told him that the emotional time spent, the work time and personal time booking and rebooking appointments we were done. I eventually called ICON Canada to complain only to realize that he wasn't even an authorized technician of NordicTrack. I personally don't want another person going through what we went through which is the reason that he should be reported. He's representing himself and his company inaccurately.

ICON Canada gave me their number one authorized repair company to call and to fix my treadmill. The person I spoke to instantly knew this company and also told me that he just repaired a fitness equipment for a customer that had the exact same complaint as I am writing now. Consumers be aware. You're better off calling the manufacturer's support number and obtaining proper service even for out of warranty equipment. It's worth the extra you pay for an authorized service repair company vs. trying to save yourself a few extra dollars. This hassle has cost me time spent aggravated, and double the price. Choice Fitness has promised to refund me $80 for the initial visit. That was 12 days ago. Even if the check eventually was mailed (I'm not holding my breath), this review needs to be written so this doesn't happen to anyone else.

I've read the rebuttal’s Choice Fitness/Kevin Oye has written on other ripped off reports. I just shake my head, as again, it sounds like excuses and he's not taking ownership for the issues and the run around he's given his customers.

The reviews on his website is 100% subjective. Kevin is the King of giving you the run around and obviously does not care about your wellbeing.

in reply to your complaint

unfortunately you were a victim of Quickstart Fitness Repair and not Choice. Who came the 2nd time out?? It wasnt Choice that is for sure. Choice did the job needed the 1rst time out. Due to personal issues I had to send the request to another company, which was Quickstart Fitness Repair.

it is true....Choice should not have trusted this company and the person that runs it. He did a good job with 6 calls that Choice gave him to ruin Choice's reputation for his own business needs. He took your money the 2nd time out....not Choice....and he is the one who should've returned to install the drive belt.

I was able to salvage a few of those calls that he messed up but due to personal issues at the time, I was unable to get everyone in.

I run this on my own and when things happen....whether personal, family or vehicle related....there is not to much I can do about it.

I sent out 2 cheques to you with the address you gave me for $80.00 and I notice nothing has gone through still. It is not my fault you are not receiving for them for whatever reason.

I needed my treadmill repaired so chose Choice Fitness Repair randomly from internet. Called Kevin Oye in Aug and he came promptly to the appt. He told me that I should get a new motor and belt and gave me the email and part numbers to order, which I did. I paid him $80 for that visit. He was supposed to come back to install but instead said he was sick with allergies and sent someone else. This new person installed the parts but then said that another belt burst and he would buy it and return to install it. This never happened despite several emails. I had to pay that person $50. I then emailed Kevin Oye who gave me the part number to order, which I dad. He was supposed to come to install it but again was sick so missed the appt. He made another appt which he again missed, again due to illness. I then realized that he was scamming me and told him so.

they left my machine in a mess with parts scattered all over. This whole fiasco lasted more than two months. I finally had to call another company, who came and fixed my machine tonight.

in defense

Kevin came to our place to check out a knocking sound on our treadmill.

He diagnosed that the motor was bad

This was a pretty new treadmill and still under warranty

The problem was, we had lost our receipt

Kevin went out of this way with icon to get us a new motor and came back and installed it promptly

We would not choose any one else in the future.

Proper Diagnostics

Kevin came to our house in Burlington. It is a ways but we couldn't find anyone else in the area. He was on time and was even a half hour later...which was great. After another company told us our elliptical would need an $150 part...we called Kevin at choice. He came and diagnosed the problem and was sure it did not need this costly part and a 2nd trip. Kevin ended up finding the issue and he repaired the part that was damaged on the spot. We are pleased we found Kevin and would use his service again in a heartbeat. -

great and more......

Dec. 13, 2014

contacted Choice Fitness Repair for a number of issues I was having with an ********** elliptical trainer. Kevin, the owner, returned my email within hours and was very flexible and accommodating in arranging a time to come by my house. He arrived promptly as scheduled and was able to repair the problems within a matter of minutes for a reasonable fee. Also, the machine needed a replacement footrest and, rather than charge me for an extra visit so he could install it, he instead provided me the information I needed to order the part myself and gave me instructions on how to install it. He even left me the correct hex wrench for the job! HIghly recommended.

Very Professional

Jan. 25, 2015

Kevin was so professional to deal with which is a nice surprise for a business that you discover via ******. I did my research on Choice Fitness Repair before going with them and my only concern was that Kevin come out to do the repair vs contracting it out. The other technicians in the business do not have as good reviews as Kevin. He respected that and came himself. He set it up quickly and the machine is working perfectly as expected. I wouldn't hesitate to call him again for any other assembly or maintenance. His price was also very fair. $80 for assembly of this model of elliptical is quite reasonable. If I had received his services via a big box retailer I would have paid $200.
