I contacted the city of Columbia (water customer service) a week prior to moving on 15 August 2014, they told me that the water will be shut off/ out of my name on the 18 August 2014. I received a bill that ends on 25 August 2014, (I moved out on 15 August 2014).
When I called to tell them that they over billed me, the supervisor told me that it takes them 5-8 business days after the move out date to come and read the meter. I told the supervisor that doesn’t make any since because you are still charging me for the time I no longer live there.
I then told him that my water bill was never anywhere near $100; it was always between $25-$45; I then asked him why wasn't this brought to my attention when I called a whole week prior to my move out date? He then said "HE DIDN'T KNOW".
I am in the military and this is not my first move but this is the first time I'm having an issue with this kind of situation. I'm being charge my bill and whatever water the leasing office used on the dates that I was not leaving there.
