I entered into a contract with Colorado River Adventures, camping and Resort living since 6/29/14. Contract amount is $8,995.00, and I made a down payment of $1,195.00, and have consistently have been making payments of $170.00 per month towards balance. (Total of $2,555.00) However, they have a maintenance fee of $449.00 due annually, that I have not been since March 2015. I went into the office on April 14, 2015, to make regular payment and to advise them that I would make an effort to pay maintenance fee in two weeks.

They refused my payment, that my account was frozen and turned over to collections. I asked for notification/correspondence to the effect that I was going to collections if payments were not made. They had none. I can see getting turned over to collection for not paying the maintenance fee, but they turned over my current paid account to collections as well. This specifically is at Emerald Cover Resort in Parker, AZ, and I do not want my credit ruined with this unethical business, and I hope everyone is aware!

My wife and I were offerred a 3 nite stay at Emerald Cove campground in Earp, CA. We knew it came with a requirement to attend a 90 minute pitch for a campground timeshare, which interested us. One of the additional tidbits thrown in with the offer is a gift of a $200 gas rebate, and dinner at their "clubhouse". Upon arrival, it took us less than 10 minutes to decide that this was not a place for us. The campground was dusty, and not kept up very well. The "clubhouse" was a multi use building that was hardly suited for a dinner. The use of the word "clubhouse" was a joke. We attended the 90 minute presentation the next day, and the sales person was not a "happy camper". Her 1st shot at us was to try to get us to commit our interest at the outset. She told us that if we were not interested, we could go now. I said "what if we go?" She told us that we would lose the gifts, which she held on her side of the table, and we would have to pay $50 per night to stay. We sat through it. She was rude the entire time, probably trying to get us to leave, so I just kept asking her questions about CRA and the other campgrounds. Her answers were ridiculous. Bottom line is that we survived, and got our gifts, which included the gas rebate, which brings me to the point of this complaint. The rebate certificate requires you to activate it within 30 days. Fuel must be purchased from Shell service stations only. Receipts must be imprinted, and, get this---no more than $50 per receipt, and the receipts must be at least 60 days apart. No problem there, but the OFFER EXPIRES IN 240DAYS from the date of issue. Unless you activate the certificate the day it is issued, which they don't tell you to do, it is impossible to get in the last $5o rebate---so in reality, it's a $150 rebate. I called them later to confirm this, and was told "if you do it just right, you can make it happen". Good luck on that! I then asked if they had my Activation Form on file, and they would not confirm that it was activated. They also tout a "Jackass Flats" 9 hole golf course. It truly is Jackass Flats. The whole place should be name Jackass Flats, not Emerald Cove, and if you get sucked in to buying there, you have to be a j******!

My wife and I had purchased a new travel trailer and were contacted by this company to come to Parker, AZ to check out the place and do a 90 minute presentation. We were promised a android tablet, $100 GAS CARD, and 20 free nights of camping. After all we did get the gifts but the "gas card" is not a card but a rebate which is almost impossible to ever use if you follow the instructions it will expire before you can use it all.

We sat through the sales pitch which was fine we knew what it was going to be for the most part. As it got further we were promised a tour that never happend. I would figure being I do sales myself a tour would entice someone more. We satrted talking numbers and were origionally told only about the maintenance fees. It all looked really good and we were exicted to maybe take part.

We finally got to the membership part... This is where it all went to a**holeville. The sales guy had told us they do all their own financing and are very flexible, no credit check yada yada. Upon looking into the ammount per month we were told the maximum would be for six years, "not very flexible to begin with."

He stated our payments would be around $128 a month which was ok but then he said we would need $1000 down today. Sorry bud we dont have that ammount of money lying around. We had explained in the beggining we had gone through a bankruptcy before and a foreclosure and we are still climbing out. Knowing our financial standings he kept asking " do you have anything to put down?" To which we replied right now no.

After saying no we dont have anything to put down he immediately started acting like a flamming a**hole, he said well then this is where it ends. He gave us our gifts but in a rude way he just signed the papers and said here it tells you how to do it just read it. Not offering to explain, no handshake at the end nothing. The biggest problem is if he would of been cordial at the end my wife and I may have concidered saving the money and coming back but not now.

As I said I have sales experience and this is not the way to gain customers. I will make sure and let everyone know not to waste your time. He also had the audacity to look at our yearly income and state " you said you make this much where does it go?" Umm excuse me for one not your buisiness and for two we explained previously we had financial issues before we are tring to get back on the good path it takes time.
