Complete Roofing & Repair Reviews

A Jason Van Dyke provided a quote for a new roof via e-mail. The company name on the bottom of the quote was Complete Roofing. When I checked with the state license board there was no contractors license for either Jason Van Dyke or Complete Roofing. I told him he could do the work when he provided a contractors license, bond and insurance certificate and a contract so I could verify the fact he had been in business for over 20 years as he had stated.

I came home the next night and he had already installed the roof!!!! The roof leaked from the first day and the company damaged the siding and gutters when they installed the roof. And the worst part is that they installed the WRONG SHIGLES that were of inferior quality and were discontinued die lot!!! I refused to pay him until the repairs were made and something was done about the wrong and cheap shingles that were installed.

He refused to do so until he was paid. Behind my back he went to my 80 year old mother and conned her into paying him.

The roof continued to leak and tarps were placed on the roof. After 2 years of begging to have the roof repaired a heavy rain during the night caused over $10,000 of water damage. I called Jason and told him I had filed an insurance claim with my homeowners and in response a different person, Douglas Van Noord who represents Grand Rapids Building Repair Inc came out and told me that Complete Roofing was only the sub-contractor and Grand Rapids Building Repair Inc is the contractor and that he wanted to do the repairs for the estimated over $35,000 of insurance money.

I agreed feeling I had no other choice. He set a date of 11/08/2014 to start the project. Two days later I found out that my policy did not cover mold problems and my home had tested positive for black mold as well as 3 other kinds. After I informed Mr. Van Noord of this he hung up and did not show up on the 8th as promised. I have now paid for a new roof and the cost to remediate the mold. I filed a complaint with the Attorney General feeling that the roofing company diliberately installed a falty roof and failed to do the repairs so that the water damage company could get the big insurance money.

A response was filed by Attorney Mickael Risko who represented Douglas Van Noord stating that there was no connection between the 2 companies and Douglas Van Noord had no connection with Complete Roofing other than the fact they shared an office. After again checking with the State of Michigan LARA I found that Mr. Van Noord is actually a MEMBER, OWNER OF COMPLETE ROOFING AS WELL AS THE RESIDENT AGENT!!! And his attorney Risko was the attorney that filed the LLC filing in 2009!!!! After again contacting the worthless attorney generals office they informed me that they only get involved in voluntary mediation and do not regulate fraud!!!!!! Incredible.

I sould add that an inspection was done on the roof to determine why it leaked. It was found that the contractor installed shingles over rotten wood that was over 100 years old much of which had over 1" gaps in it. Most of the shingles were either not fasted at all or with too short of nailes and only one per shingle. The roof was installed in temperatures under 30 degrees and the shingles did not seal. The dormers on the front and rear were not flashed and they did not vent the attic properly and not at all in some areas.
