Attorney for Consumer's Clearing House Sweepstakes called to report I had won the second prize for $500,000 but they need to collect the taxes before issuing the check. The taxes are $65,000 but they will cover all but $2,000 and I will need to wire them the $2,000 which is a deposit to show I will pay the $65,000 when I file my taxes. The $2,000 will be refunded to me along with the $500,000 in two days when they deliver the check for the $500,000.

I checked out the attorney firm on the internet and there is no Montgomery Stearns and Associaltes in Atlanta, but there is a Stearns-Montgomery, who I called and they know nothing about this. I checked the phone number given and it's not listed without me paying to get who it's listed to.

I was aware from the start that this sounded like a scam and was waiting for the send money to collect speel. Just a warning to all who answer their phones during the day. The man did not ask for any bank info just wanted to know if I had enough funds to cover the taxes.
