Cory Ware Reviews

The below site and also the sales person is just plain misleading its future customers. They claim to have no caps and will not even disclose what the monthly "allowance" is before the speed slows down or how much it slows down.

After researching online the best package ($129 15Mbps) is capped at 20 GB and slows to 1 Mb.

They actually advertive 20 hrs at "standard def" but do not know what resolution this might be. I think it might be hulu at 240p or near old TV resolutions. A couple DVD movies would use your data up in 4 hrs on the best package (129/month).

Most all of the cell and satellite ISPs have caps now days and just slow things down when you get to the cap. Cell towers do this by saying unlimmited ( with details in small print about using older data rate like 3g after a certain cap) but not unlimmited 4G. Hughes is following this measleading sales method to not even disclose the cap. They also claim that only the movies slow down when the "allowance is hit" They flat out refuse to give you the allowance or put it on the webpage abocve. All large files (including music, VMs, Movies) stream or not have to be slowed when a cap is hit for a system to even be stable. It is plain out lying to say otherwise.

I have a voice recording of this sales person if anybody needs extra evidence for class action.

Date of recording is:

I have been using Excede satellite for 2.5 ys now and the performance is great, but the caps and any customer service or changes are near impossible to deal with. We just renewed our 2yr contract by haing to re-install the full system (for free) at the cost of excede to get a secrete Direct TV deal for a 24 month double cap promotion. It is really not so much of a promotion since it is for the full duration of the contract. I have the sales person, and 2 -3 follow up call to excede to verify my terms on the 24 month double cap deal, as well as being able to changes plans back an forth to fit my data usage. After 5 months on the new contract we tried to up the level (after starting at $129 then down to $49 after 2 months) and they refuse to do it saying we will lose the promo and we need to satay at $49. They have atleast invoiced us corretly keeping us on the 24 month promo. When we got the second intallation the tech actully signed our contract and then sent us a copy that did not show the promo. We could not get them to show it on paper or an email, but have 3-4 phone conversations verifing that it does exist, and now after 6 months the invoice continues to show double cap as does our portal/usage meter. I just thought is was some problem with Exede in contract defult for a sales agremment with the other partners so they could not show this great deal they made to Direct TV bundle. We can make it work and honestly would rather be stuck on the bottom plan if they just keep the double cap.

Exede equipment work great and averages about 10 Mb/sec and up to 20 Mb/ses with no caps from midnight to 5am. The slow rates are about 300kbps to 1 Mbps. The service can slow down to 2-3 Mb during "rush hours" but is reliable with more than 99.9% up time even in bad weather (storms and coastal fog). Ip phones work, but the delay is about 800mS (near a full second) and you almost need to say "over" as if you are on a 2way radio. The $29 ip phone package gives you 911 service and claims a bit better priority/optimization as well as a incomming phone number. I use google talk since the 911 is a joke in Monterey county and not even close to having an address data base. Our local fire brigade has its own map to find people here in the coastal mountains since the 911 maps and owner address signs are so bad/nonexistant. I include this information because I am confident that the hardware on both Hughs and Exede is about the same with same ping rate (800mS). They just choose to use different numbers and techneques for marketing/scamming.

The other reason I inquired about hughesnet was beacause it looks like Direct tv is partnered with them instead of Exede. That is very likely why my 'OLD PARTNER GRANDFATHERED" deal is no longer changable. Maybe Direct TV did not want to subsidize the big plans anymore after splitting from Exede and going to Hughesnet?

I might try a couple more times to up the plan with the 24 month so I can get the 50GB ($129) plan for the remaining 16 months. It turns out that our usage with the vacation rental and wwoofers is about 40GB/month and we are making enough monies now to justify the extra $80/month. I wish we could drop the Dtv but my wife likes it and some rental sports fans demand it.

Another reason for this posting is that i have another BW SOLUTION which is a "hardware bandwidth limmiter". I will use 2 of the Eugenius wifi units in bridge mode for a wireless link to the rental (1/4 mile down hill with trees) and another for the outdoor guest hub. They have a setting that goes down to 100 kbps to limit BW! It will keep the guests from using up the cap. A piece of advice on limiting BW by "asking people NOT TO STREAM" . It does NOT WORK. Even if the guest has good intentions they are probably from town with cellular data and cable/fiber/dsl high speed. Most people today use the cloud and auto updates on their devices making it new impossible to control data usages. I even had one wwoofer that said can not take pics on the phone during his trip since the 8GB (new iphone 5) was full and the cloud was needed to store and view pics. Discconecting from the cloud gets you a message from apple that all your data (pics, songs n movies) are GONE if you choose to disconnect from hal.

Contact me a coysolar at g mail if you have others sollutions or want to collaborate on a class action about the crazy unethical practice of these big companies.

Sorry for the misspelling and typos .... maybe no spell correction here for legal porposes?
