She is not licensed to practice cosmetology in any state, and while she 'owns' a salon under an etablishment license, she hides behind Craigslist ads for hair, makeup, extensions, eyelashes and teaching classes so she doesn't get caught.
She has had to change her business name multiple times and move locations to avoid being caught. She used to be located in Auburn, CA and is now in Cool, CA however she travels all over the Sacrmento area to your home via crigalist ads.
She defends herself stating you do not need a license to do hair extensions. However, that is only if you braid them in. She uses a heating tool and glue, among other terrible methods, and has no idea what she is doing. She once painted extension glue with black nail polish to cover the white film that her glue dries to on dark extensions.
She destroyed my hair, and many other cilents hair using bad glue and burning off the hair with the melting tool. Courtney claims that she does not dye hair but she did color my hair which you CANNOT do without a license.
Courtney also teaches courses to certify people on hair and makeup for weddings. However she has NO authority to license or certify anyone and she creates fake certificatons that are not worth the money she prints them on and mass produces them. Her classes are well over $250 each. Did I mention she is not licensed in any state to do this?
If you confront her about the terrible job she did or destorying your hair, she will give you a sob story about how her kid's dad is in jail and this is the only way to make money for herself. If you ask for your money back, she will claim that you were satisfied with your hair when she left and to talk to her lawyer, who does not exist. She will threaten you endlessly with calls to the police and a restraining order if you demand any type of compensation be returned to you for her shoddy work or calling her out on being unlicensed.
What she does use the money on (because she doesn't on her kid) is professional modeling shots of herself which she plasters all over her facebook pages, steroids and a personal trainer since she wants to compete in figure shows and retail items for her salon in Cool, CA which is the other way she makes her money (but most of the time she's selling everything at cost because she has no customers).
Her Yelp pages- Under Courtney's Glam in Auburn, CA and Ravishing Retail in Cool, CA have filtered reviews with the truth of what she has done to people's hair, how she showed up late for wedding makeup and failed to prvoide the services brides paid for, and how fake her classes are that she teaches. She is currently under investigation with the Dept. of Barbery and Cosmetology and the DCA, and has been featured on thedirty.com which exposes theifs and scam artists alike everyday.
Coutney Hurley needs to be out of business since she is unlicensed to practice ANY kind of cosmetology and make a living the honest way. She has no idea what she is doing because she has never been professionally trained and innocent people are getting caught up in her lies.
