Cricket Wireless LLC Reviews

I had receiving service from Cricket Wireless for several years with no issue. In March of 2015 I stopped receiving phone calls, friends and family that tried calling me received a message saying my account was not in service.

Over the course of 2-3 months I made over 20 calls to the company and received responses ranging from "everything is fine with your account" to "your phone is the problem" to "we can't help you" to simply hanging up.

During this time money was automatically being withdrawn from my account for auto-pay; I lived with it because I kept being assured that I would have my issue resolved within 48 hours. That 48 hours turned into more than 2160 hours.

Tired on relying on incompetent tech support, I set out to fix the issue myself. I discovered that Cricket had actually lost my phone number and sent it back to TMobile (It hasnt been a TMobile number for ~15 years). So I paid for service that the company was unable to perform because THEY LOST my phone number, and they refuse to give me my money back.

They offered to credit a small portion to my Cricket account, which is useless because I have no intention staying with this company. I want the money back on my credit card, not my account. I tried several times to get this accomplished to no avail. The foriegn customer service people had a hard time grasping the situation, the "accounting department" threatened me with the Terms of Service (which is a joke, since the breached the TOS first), and other managers either hung up on me or said they would call back, but didn't.

This is, of course, the simplified version. The detailed version includes more then 20 hours of my work, personal and family time ruined because no one would believe I had an issue, were unwilling to admint they caused the issue, and still refuse to give me my money back. I patiently gave Cricket numberous opportunities to redeem themselves, and told them I would write this report if they were uncoopportive or unresponive (they chose the latter).

If you are concidering using Cricket Wireless for your phone services, CHANGE YOUR MIND. The money savings is not worth the headache of dealing with the company!

Not happy at all with cricket wireless. I will not recommend anyone to u. They sucked.

Minor ding for $5 here. Cricket Wireless advertises that BASIC monthly plans start at $35.

But they actually charge $40 for the first month, not $35.

You have to sign up for Auto Pay from your credit card to get the cheaper rate.

But the first month you MUST pay the $40.

There is no way to sign up for Auto Pay when placing your order online.

Ever since i purchase my phone from Cricket i've had issues. I've had issues with my internet and data storage. I never have a good internet connection unless i'm connected to wifi. Even when i'm connected to wifi Cricket still drains my data and all of my data is gone after a couple of days. I've called in about this issue for about 6 months now and all Cricket does is put trouble ticket after trouble ticket in, and no one will ever returns my calls. The only solution Cricket can give me is to pay for more data or send my phone in to get checked. Crickets Warranty department is not designed to help customers but to create more income for the company. The warranty departments solution was to pay $300 for replacement phone while they check my current phone or just send the phone in and be without service for 10 days. When I asked if my $300 would be refunded back to me they said it would be credited towards my account. So after selling me a defective phone, Cricket wants me to give them another $300 for them to trouble shoot my phone. Or i can't talk to anyone for 10 business days. These are two horrible solutions. And these are solutions every customer faces if there's something wrong with your phone. I hate the mutli million companies sell defective products and then ask for more money to fix them. Between the defective phones, unreliable service, and HORRIBLE customer service, Cricket Wireless is a joke. Just another crooked company with good marketing. This company has tons of problems but no solutions.

I seen a deal that cricket was offering, i was interested, it was a deal that you paid the first months service and the phone at once, but you get a 75$ rebate. So i thought i was going to get my rebate in 6 weeks automatically since that was the information they provided. I waited 8 weeks even, i never seen a thing, i called in and they said you have to have active service for 45 days( which wasn't in the original stipulations), okay i was clear on that, i had my service for about 2 months at this point. So i want my rebate especially because i barely passed by on an unsaid stipulation. Then i get hit with another unsaid stipulation, i was supposed to mail in a rebate, which the site never provides the rebate to mail in, they make it seem like you automatically get your rebate in 6 weeks, that is honestly what the sites appears to act as. So i was like, umm okay, i guess ill fill one out, then he said i got to wait 10-12 weeks after they receive the mail in before i get my rebate, this information was Never stated in the original deal. then he asked if my service is current, i said no because i was very frusterating with crickets customer service, he said i wouldn't be eligible for the rebate anymore because im no longer a cricket customer. So cricket screwed me out of 75$ through their little rebate scam, they don't tell you that you have to mail in a rebate, be an active cricket member for 45days, and wait 10-12 weeks after the 6 week period, so you're waiting about half a year to get your money and that's if you jumped through all the hoops.

Someone bought a Cricket online using my husband's credit card after our account was hacked. The phone ended up arriving to our home. My husband was furious. The bank investigated and returned our money, realizing the charge was fraudulent. When we tried to call cricket however, we got the run around. When he eventually did get someone, he was told that since he accepted the box, he couldn't return it to them -- even though it was obvious he hadn't even bought the phone. We had accepted that package cause we had recently ordered several things and had assumed this was one of them. Seriously tough -- What the heck? How can you not return something you didn't buy? What kind of policy is that? All over the country people return things that they actually DID buy! Also what good is it to force us to keep the phone? We are also talking a lot of money here -- almost $300 hundred dollars. Hubby decided to go ahead and return it to the address on the box using out of pocket money to do so. What a nightmare. Cricket is probably the worst company on the planet in this regard. Buyers beware.

NOTE: Below the form asks if I used a credit card for the transatcion -- WE didn't, but there was no form asking if the card was fradulently used, so I filled it out as if we used it so you could have further info about the transaction...

Purchased cell phone, accessories and serice on Saturday, 3/7/2015 with the understanding they would port my phone number from my old carrier to the Cricket Wireless phone. Waited 3 hours, still no service. Left and went home, calling Cricket Wireless 800 number several times to see if the number had been ported. The Cricket Wireless operator asked for my 'full social security number' in order to 'get the service' to accept and port my number. I was suspicious and refused. She said it might take 2 days. The Cricket Seabrook office was closed on Sunday. Monday, 3/9/2015, 48 hours after the phone was purchased, I still didn't have phone service (no phone). I drove to the Cricket offie in Seabrook and requested a full refund for the phone, accessories and serivce that I never got. The clerk said that the wrong SIM card had been put in the phone and she replaced it with another SIM, but I continued to refuse the phone, stating, "I purchased this phone with the understanding I would get my old number ported. You agreed to port the old number and didn't comply with your promise." The clerk stalled me for another hour after I asked to speak to the manager. I left, went to get my pets from home and went to the local police department to file a complaint. When I returned, the clerk stated she could not get the paperwork correct on the computer so nothing had been done. I left the new phone and accessories after calling my bank and disputing the charges. Cricket Wireless baits the customer with great rates and phones, easy credit at no interest, simple number porting and does not follow through. I spent 2 days without a phone after charging $112 to my credit card and having a $439 'overall' credit charge. In addition, Cricket was supposed to set me up with an AUTO PAY monthly to save me $5 and I found out they didn't even set it up. Consumer BEWARE of Cricket Wireless!

  • Mar 6, 2015

Cricket Wireless has been advertising for months that customers should come into their stores to receive a free new 4G SIM card which would afford customers a better service. After many months and a few text messages from Cricket Wireless, I finally decided to get better service, not that I wasn't already completely satisfied with the service and rates I was receiving which I often boasted about.

On my visit to the store to receive my new SIM on January 16, 2015 I also noted that there was a current promotion for a "FREE phone". I was required to purchase a Nokia Lumina 635 for $74.99 and receive a full REBATE after using the phone with my new SIM card for 30 days. After much assurance from the Cricket representative that I would receive my rebate, I decided to proceed with the purchase, afterall, I thought I had nothing to lose. The representative at the store prepared all the paperwork for the rebate, placed it in an envelope, advised me that everything placed in the envelop must remain there and that the only thing I was required to do was place a stamp on the envelope and post it.

During the 30 days, I returned to the store a number of times because I realized that my phone was initally not receiving or was able to send text messages to some models of the IPhone. I assume this affected the newer model phones, since I do not believe there was any missed communication between my husband, who uses an IPhone 3, and I. My friends and even a representative at the stored realized that there was infact a problem after testing the service on newer IPhones. I was advised by the representative that efforts would be made by him to resolve this issue on my behalf, however to date, this issue remains unresolved.

I anxiously awaited the date of my rebate so that I could be rid of this problematic phone but after 30 days had passed and the Cricket Wireless Rebate status site had indicated a "Not Compliant" issue for my claim, I returned to the store to find out what the problem was and I was told that the waiting period was 45 days.

On Mon 02 Mar 2015, I received communication from Cricket Wireless that my rebate request was declined, reason: Migrated Account. I called the rebate center to find out what that meant and they indicated that because I already had a cricket account, I wouldn't be eligible for the rebate as the promotion applied only to persons switching to cricket or obtaining a new account from Cricket. Did none of the three(3) representatives present at the store who assisted me in various aspects of these transactions know this? Why did they proceed to prepare a rebate for me knowing fully well that I wasn't entitled? Until my current plight, I continued to praise the efficient customer service I received....was it too good to be true? It most certainly was!

After hours of calls to the Cricket Wireless Rebate Center, the Cricket Wireless Customer Service, a visit back to the store (as suggested by the Customer Service Representative) and another call back to the Customer Service Department, I am no closer to receiving a rebate or my money refunded for a phone I will not be able to continue using. My theory is that Cricket has sub standard phones that they need to be rid of and use so called "promotions" to trap individuals into purchasing them, using their representatives to mislead customers and hoping that persons will breach some aspect of their stringent policy, such as "45 day of usage" so that they can decline a refund.

Since my complaints, the Rebate Policy which precluded me receiving a rebate for this particular promotion have been read and played to me a number of times. The rebate toll free number happily advises about the conditions for a rebate. I wish they had appraised their own representatives of these policies before putting them in a store to influence customer decisions or to make it store policy for prospective customers to read the terms and conditions before purchasing goods and services (REALLY!?)

I want my money back.. I believe their actions were deliberate, misleading and was a strategy to "smartly" pass on the cost of junk merchandise to customers. I will no longer be a Cricket Wireless customers and all my commendation have been replaced by condemnation. Stay away from Cricket Wireless!

Since acquiring a Cricket Wireless Moto g phone. I have had fraudulent charges to the two credit cards they have on file. They are the only people that had both numbers. I have had to cancel both cards. The call forwarding on the phone was and is set to transfer to a cell phone in Tampa, Fl. Speaking to customer service is like talkig to a wall, They all say there nothing they can do, and refuse to let me speak to a supervisor or someone in charge. I told them to cancel the serrvice. I guess I will just have to the losses.

My daughter purchased a phone from Cricket Wireless, and was steered to YBUY Financial to set up a payment plan

she has paid approximately $600, within a 4 month period, for the phone. Now she is being told that she still owes $500. The purchase price was $600. She was not told about this exorbitant penalty for not paying it off in 90 days. Cricket Wireless is also a party to this rip-off, as they failed to properly inform my daughter of the consequences of not paying in 90 days. I am appalled that YBUY and Cricket Wireless are engaging in such unscrupulous practices. My research showed that others are also victims of this practices. Prospective customers should be aware.

I will never go to this location again. I originally bought a phone from them when they were AIO wireless. I appreciated the price and from the young lady sales rep. As for the store owner Troy he was less than helpful. I later added 4 more lines to save my family money on the cell phone bill. I was pleased since my wife and kids now had smartphones and the price was manageable.

A few months ago I upgraded my phone to a more expensive one. This transaction was not cheap, and I felt like Troy did not appreciate my business. He could have thrown in something free since I spent so much on the phone. I was a little pissed about that at the time.

A few days ago, my wife had some issues with her phone. He was not able to fix the phone or replace. This phone was less than 4 months old. I went by another Cricket store inquiring about this phone and said that phone was replaced because of those issues.

I will also be reporting this to the BBB for bad business practices. He should be investigated. I have never been so frustrated with a cell phone company before. I am seriously thinking about trying another company. Beware of this Cricket store among others!

Cricket wireless in palatine, IL totally ripped me off & according to what I've read, I'm not the only one!

The rep told me I'd only get $25.00 to trade in my old phone, or I can send in the papers for my new phone & get a $50.00 rebate.

They automatically change you over from the "old" cricket to the"new" cricket. I was not aware of that, but I assumed that wouldn't matter.

I just got a post card from Cricket Wireless that I was denied the rebate due to me migrating my account! I called & customer service said they know that information & should have told me.

I called the palatine, IL store & she gave me some bogus answer that totally didn't make sense and was total bullsh-t & I am pissed! I asked if I could bring my old phone in & if they would let me "trade" it in & of course she said she couldn't do that. What a frickin rip off!

Decided to try Cricket wireless in October 2014 after my cell company sold out to verizon. Bought 4 cricket phones for a very decent price and they each had $50 rebate. Submitted all required information for each of the phones then monitored online and also called to verify they had all that they needed. I was told all was well and to now wait 8-12 weeks and I'll receive the 4 $50 Visa Cards in mail. It has been 13+ weeks. Tried to call rebate center last week but hung up after being on hold 30 minutes. Reached them tonight fairly quickly. Said they are being "reprocessed" as of 1/9/15. To wait 4 weeks and IF THERE ARE NO ERRORS, I will receive the cards.

Beware of Cricket rebates. Cricket customer service simply refers to the rebate center. All issues go to the rebate center. The rebate center is less than helpful. Remember the phrase "if there are no errors" because I heard it tonight and heard it previously. Seems they have a LOT of errors lol. My plan is to hand it of to one of the phone attorneys on my legal plan if I don't get my rebates.

Cricket service I'm very pleased with mainly for the value. I have 5 phones on the plan and pay $110 a month vs. previous phone company I paid about $225 for 3 phones. I really can't tell the difference in the service. If anything, I can access Facebook more easily when traveling. I've traveled to Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, and Missouri since having the phone. No more issues with dropped calls than on my last carrier. Better access to the web than my last carrier. Navigator and email work just as well as with prior carrier.

This company made an unauthorized $70 charge to my bank account. I already paid for my monthly cell phone service on December 26. This morning I checked my online bank account like I always do and saw a new charge pending from Cricket Wireless. This number (855-246-2461) was listed next to the charge. I was curious so I called the number, and what do you know, it connected me with the Cricket Wireless customer service line. Their number is supposed to be 1-800-CRICKET (274-2538). So I waited for 20+ minutes to be connected with SOMEONE, and all I got was annoying music. I also chatted online with a representative from Cricket Wireless using their 'Chat Now' app on their website. They said they only saw one payment sent from my account and that they had no record of the $70 charge or the 855-246-2461 phone number listed with it.

Finally I searched for the number online and saw that it was associated with some company called Aio Wireless. What even?!?!

What's the deal, Cricket? I was really happy to find your affordable, no-contract cellphone service, and it's been great up till now. But seriously, what's with letting third party companies accept/make unauthorized charges under your company's name?

Cricket advertised for a promotion which a new customer could buy an HTC phone for $75. However, the store refused to honor the ad because I was a few hours late in claiming my right to purchase this phone. The date of transaction is 2 Dec 2014. I sent a personal letter to company headquarter as well as the store; but received no response.

I attempted to participate in a cyber Monday sale on December 1st 2014. The location I had set for my purchase was Cricket Wireless. They had a Samsung S5 for half price an a great deal on monthly price, and a 100 dollar account credit to transfer a line of telephone service. Boost mobile was my phone company that I wanted to switch to Crickett.

I stayed up all night to be ready for the sale that started at 12am EST according to a chat I had with a cricket customer support rep. The sale didn’t start at 12am, I waited till 1am an still no discounted phone price. I then went to website again where they updated an it said 3am EST was when phone sale would start. I went to sleep awoke around 2:20 am an checked price an it was active.

I proceeded to order phone an set my old phone number as a transferring line. It wouldn’t go though the first time so I attempted again it went through. As it went through the website confirmed order an immediately went back to home screen.

There was a charge on my checking account for 0.00 from Cricket wireless. So there was no way to contact them because they choose to have the sale during hours there customer service section was closed. I went to sleep then awoke for work. I called Cricket wireless at 7am Eastern Standard Time an explained my dilemma. I was on hold for 40 mins. They said we will transfer you to online sales. I was on hold for another 9 minutes. Someone picks up an says oh I’m sorry this is warranty support let me transfer you to online sales. It instantly went back to a set of prompts an then hung up on me.

So I attempted to contact them back the next day on Tuesday Dec2 2014. I called an explained my situation to a representative they ask me my name; an seemed genuinely concerned. I was not rude in the least bit, an explained that I was a little upset at the situation they agreed with me. An said let me look into the matter, put me on hold. They came back an said well I see where you tried to order an there was an error, this time a rep made fun of me for my speech impediment an then hung up me again. I have a stutter an the person was laughing at me made repetitive sounds to mock me.

I called back to cricket wireless again on Dec 3 an was on hold for about 40 minutes an was hung up on again. So I attempted an online chat only to explain my situation in detail an give all my personal information an then be left in the chat room alone. I tried another chat, an got the same representative that immediately left the chat room.

I have never in my life received support like this. I am a soldier who just came back from a deployment. An think that companies like this should be held accounted for their actions. This wasn’t a fluke conversation but multiple with the same result.

I have been a customer of Cricket Wireless Communications since August of 2008. I've paid for insurance all this time. The first time I used the insurance company they used to replace a phone that wouldn't work properly I had to pay $35.00 to get a replacement. The employee told me it was a brand new phone. While checking out the phone I found that the phone was a used phone, had not been refurbished and in fact belonged to the employee. I knew something was amiss when he tried to slip the back of my phone on to the back of the supposed new phone. I did send a fax to one of the CEO's and they did put the $35.00 towards my next month's bill. So okay, I guess that's better than nothing but I did buy a new phone and I got the employees phone which he got rid of because he didn't like it either.

So fast forward to now. Whether I lost it, it fell out of my pocket or what, I now have no phone. I used another phone to call my phone and all it would do was go straight to voicemail. Whoever had it had immediately turned it off so it would not ring. The next morning I used a friends phone and called Cricket. The recording said to have it frozen until I get a replacement and the number to call for the insurance. So I called the insurance and said my phone was stolen and he rudely said that if they believed me and if they approved it and if I pay the fee they would send me a comparable replacement phone, but it would not be new. Again, I had another phone that I had bought brand new and now because whoever had mine didn't turn it in when found or even try to locate the owner and intentionally kept it for themselves which is why they turned it off immediately therein stealing my phone, I'm supposed to do without and wait for them to decide if they believe me and make me pay for someone else's used piece of garbage. Let's face it, how do you think they get all those phones to sell to you for $35.00. I just simply told the man that I was through talking to him. Telling the man that it was a matter of life and death and I couldn't wait a week or two or three for them to replace my phone. You are also required to keep paying for the service and have no refund while this is in process. So, since I had a surgical procedure that day I couldn't do more that day so I went the following day to buy another new phone.

Well $108.00 dollars later I have a new phone, yeah...right, Not! I'm on auto bill pay and I keep checking my account and they still had me as owing for this month when I had to already pay for this month because they said I had frozen my other phone. But isn't that what the cricket recording had recommended I do? Now I'm being told I shouldn't have and had to pay another month even though they could see that I had already paid for the current month. I tried to handle this via live chat and both times was disconnected because they tell you they will be right back and they have your phone number in case you are disconnected, the chat starts counting down if you don't send another text and when you close the window to the warning you get cut off. You can't send another text with that open and yet you close it and you're done. Well I've turned off the auto bill pay so I'm waiting to see if they interrupt my service now because my bill wasn't paid this month and I have cancelled the insurance forever because of how I was treated, acting like I was a liar and my phone wasn't actually gone. As far as I'm concerned if I buy a new phone and someone else has it that I don't know then I should have a new phone. I shouldn't have to wait for them to mail me one when I don't have any other way to make calls. When I say it's a matter of life or death, he has no right to say, I understand. Apparently he didn't or he wouldn't have said that.

My phone I have now has Windows 8.1 and also has a rebate offer. In the offer it clearly states you must pay for a second month of service in order for you to be eligible for the rebate. That is why they have you pay for another month when you buy the phone and that is the only reason. They want to make sure you pay it so they can get their commission, most likely a bonus, from that sale. You always need to keep all your proofs of paying too. I've had my phone turned off more than once because they said I hadn't paid my bill and I even spent an entire weekend without service, when in fact I had paid my bill. I was waiting for them to open more than once due to this. So insurance, customer satisfaction and even now getting a signal in the northwest part of town is pretty much nonexistent. I can be anywhere else and have great signal

Bought new cell phone from cricket in June 2014, Samsung s4, total cost $650.00...well since they merged a couple of week after that now the phone will no longer work under them because they are now AT&T...at store told by sales rep too bad and added that they had the right to suspend service with the phone without notice ALL CUSTOMERS IN CRICKET NETWORK SHOULD BE THANKFUL THAT THEY DID NOT JUST DISCONNECT THEM FROM ONE DAY TO ANOTHER... SHE WAS VERY RUDE AND EVEN HAD THE NERVE TO SAY NO OTHER COMPANY COULD COMPETE WITH CRICKETS PRICE..... LOCATION OF THE CRICKET STORE 4001 DYER EL PASO TEXAS 79930 PHONE NUMBER 915 564-0005. The sales associate was not sympathetic of the dilema a little understanding would have helped...even though she could not do anything about it....sympathizing with customer...is part of customer service... needless to say I HATE Cricket and would not give one more cent to buying a phone or paying one month of cricket service even if it was the cheapest in the world. THEY MIGHT THINK IT IS THE CHEAPEST WIRELESS SERVICE...BUT EVEN IF THAT WAS THE CASE, AND IT IS NOT....THEY DO NOT DESERVE MY MONEY AND I WILL NOT CONTINUE WITH THEM...THE REASON THEY DECEIVE CUSTOMERS AND HAVE VERY VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

Followed rebate specifications for $50 Visa card, including activating phone and keeping it activated with Cricket Wireless. Received "non-compliance" from Cricket refuting my rebate claim on basis of "not activating phone within rebate period."

I ordered a brand new phone and service and like a normal order procedure you excpect to get a

confirmation email but for some mysterious reason i recieved a cancellation order.

but their reason was that no money was recieved and im seeing otherwise in my bank account.

so By now I called 4 times in one day to find out what is going on with the order i am connected

to a bunch of idiots who don't know LICK about speaking english.

so from the cancellation email i find out it has been reprocessed again .

so by now I gave up and i said I wanted to cancel it. So some BOZO manager named JOSH tells

me in a rude manner that orders cannot be cancelled.

Cricket Wireless is a FRAUD just like it's parent company AT&T.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY . I ALREADY CALLED MY BANK GOT

A REFUND AND HAVE BLOCKED ANY FUTURE TRANSACTIONS WITH THEM .

PLEASE YOU DO THE SAME AS WELL. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME MY ORDER

# WITH THEM WAS 39870297.

Cricket Wireless recently merged with AT&T. Without warning their customers that CDMA network phones would no longer work on the GSM, it has caused millions of people to lose hundreds of dollars. I have recently purchased the Samsung Galaxy S4 in February and paid $600.00 for the device. Last month I had run into some hard times and was unable to pay my phone bill in which it got temp. disconnected. When I went in the other day to make a payment and reinstate my services, I was told by a representative whom was very rude that Cricket is no longer activating any new accoun ts that phones are on a CDMA network and that at this time my phone is useless unless I want to upgrade to a GSM network phone. I explained to them that I do not have the money to do an upgrade as I just paid $600 for the device 3 months ago. I was told there was nothing that can be done. I have contacted customer support at the 1800CRICKET and spoke to a representative named Christine and she told me the same thing, that there is nothing they can do and I can re purchase a new phone. Now what strikes me at this point is that Cricket knew it was changing over and it failed to notify their customers that if we were to purchase the old phones that within a few months they would no longer be compatible with their service. This is a means of deceptive business practices and should be made aware to the Attorney Generals Office, Federal Trade Commision, Better Business Bureau and Consumer Protection Agency. Considering the sales associates get a commission for each phone they sell, they had no incentive to tell the customer that the $600 devices we would be purchasing would be useless in a few months. This is not fair to the public. There have been thousands of complaints nationwide about this transition. There have been millions of dollars that customers are out on bc the company deceived us into believeing the phones would still be compatible.
