CSC Holdings, LLC. Reviews

I was a long-time customer who in a telephone solicitation was offered a "triple play package" to add a phone line along with internet and cable TV package for $99 a month. My husband gave them the billing information. He is now almost 80, and without my knowledge or his awareness, by giving them his email address, he signed up to switch to e-billing only. He put the $99 a month on automatic payment since the number never varied. Unbeknownst to either of us and without any disclosure, this offer was only good for 12 months. Since April 2010, we have been paying $155- 160 per month, which I only discovered yesterday by accident after receiving a fraudulent email claiming to be from my credit card company. I called the credit card company and went over all my charges and ended up questioning the Cable Vision charge.

Since switching to this "Triple Play," I had never seen a bill from Cable Vision and neither had my husband. I just assumed that we still had the package that I agreed to, but this is not the case. We are both Senior citizens and this company markets to entice customers to sign on to a package price, which it then "rolls over" without getting informed consent. In fact, there is no consent at all. How many customers are in our shoes and paying more than they realize? Why don't they have to have informed consent to raise prices on a package sold at one price and then jacked up over 50% without disclosure? And never a single letter explaining this change. It is fraud plain and simple. They should be required to get informed consent in writing to raise prices and especially from Seniors. We need protection from unscrupulous marketers. Cable Vision does not deny that they billed us over %50 more than we agreed to without sending any document or contract to get our informed consent. They prey on unsuspecting customers, in particular senior citizens. Beware!

Even in conversations with "higher ups," they lied to me about what packages are currently available to new customers. I checked their website before writing this and they have another package for new customers, which their representative told me today does not exist. They are still up to their unscrupulous marketing. Customer beware. And by the way, their internet service is on and off, very spotty on Long Island, especially in summer and on weekends, when their are more folks at home. Cable Vision admits to failing to obtain informed consent when they raise their prices, but they don't offer reparations. Ripping off the consumers through subtrafuge is their modus operandi. That's how they do business!! Beware!
