If you have not already read the many true accounts that myself and other family members have displayed on Facebook and other sites about the reproachful treatment that my family and I, and other people have been dealt, from the owners of Davis Monumental, Irymple Vic (they are “Wayne and Ross Davis”) (then read on), it seems they are prone to treating customers with the same unprofessional indifference, I believe there actions to be culpable, because any truthful and responsible business would take ownership of all their mistakes, could it be that their intention is to perform their services only their way, and not the way their customers advise them? And say absolutely nothing about it to the customer;
It is said that the customer is always right, this may be true in many cases, but not always; Although in our case Davis Monumental were given a photo of the particular headstone that was wanted, and the layout of the text the way we wanted it to look, so what goes on inside their heads when they don’t get it right? ‘Who knows’ And they have the audacity to expect their trusting customers to pay to have mistakes rectified that were not of their doing, the company concerned should accept liability for all mistakes made and correct them at their own expense, and it could be perceived by many that what they did to us was premeditated, or was one horrible careless mistake because as I have pointed out previously, a photo was presented to them, that should have guided them to a satisfactory conclusion, but instead our photo was totally ignored; even though the headstone in the photo was already paid for.
And we were not shown the courtesy of a phone call, a letter or even an email to offer any explanation as to the circumstances of their inability to perform the request given them, we never even got an invitation to visit their office to discuss alternative possibilities, this seems to be their unchallenged way of conducting their business. There have been words of reproach from others, but there has to be many more disgruntled customers that may feel that once the headstone is in place, that bringing the matter to the notice of the authorities would be to no avail, (if you don’t try then you will never know;;; will you?) I took them to VCAT who ruled against them, because it was clear to VCAT that “Davis Monumental” was negligent in their dealings with us, regrettably VCAT did not take it far enough;
A full refund or a headstone replacement would have been a better outcome instead of ordering Davis Monumental to pay back only $375. From the $2655 that I had paid for an unauthorized headstone;
You may “failto see a difference” Wayne Davis, (his very words) but the difference is blatantly obvious to others
Who in their right mind interferes with other peoples memorials?? Without proper authorisation;
And show atotal lack of care over the suffering there actions are causing, Sincerely, Dave Swift.
However please let others know what you have read in this letter as it could be of great benefit to others, so they may not fall into the same unwanted circumstance, And it is strongly believed that prevention of adverse occurrences can bring peace of mind; “after all”
