This company has "lab techs" that they dispatch to various clinics and doctors offices across DFW. These lab techs jobs are to get the doctors to allow them access to their patients and swab their cheeks so that they can send test samples to their "lab" for testing to determine which type of medication would be best suitable for that patient to take which is completely absurd being that these “test” are $2500 dollars and taking a test to see what medications you can take is unnecessary unless you are fighting some life threating illness or you have severe allergies. Not to mention that (at least in my case) the test was never even done.

In any case, I went into a clinic to get antibiotics and I was seen by the doctor who had me sign “insurance forms” I was then given medication and sent on my way. The entire visit lasted 10 minutes and no one else came into the room. I then receive a bill in the mail from Primex which is the company that DNASTAT bills under, I noticed that that they billed my insurance company for DNA testing. Of course I was confused by this being that I never gave any samples during my visit and the doctor was the only person that I saw. I contacted the “lab tech” at the office who said that if the test was done then he would have come into the room and did it, he then admitted that there was no reason for them to do the test being that I was there only one time for a single issue and would never return to the clinic again. Well after speaking with his boss at DNASTAT I was informed because I signed the insurance forms in the office that it was ok for them to bill me and my insurance company for the $2500 fee regardless of if the test was actually done or not.

Then I started wondering who else have they done this to and are they able to bill for something that they didn’t even do or need to do? DNASTAT appeared surprised that I actually received a bill for this in that they expected that the bill would only go to the insurance company and that I would never see it.

For now I would hope that people are aware of what is being billed to your insurance company and if there are any claims from DNASTAT AKA Primex that people would take a closer look at the charges to make sure they are right. I hate that ANY doctor or clinic would agree to allow these people into their offices being that they are crooks but I guess it says more about that doctor or clinic then the people who are doing the dirty work. Please just BE AWARE!!!!!

My wife experienced the same incident although the doctor was not present. Some other person, maybe a member of the doctor's staff, took a swab and had her sign papers. She was confused about the need for the testing, although the person assured her that her insurance would cover all costs. This was not the case, the test cost $2930. Because she signed the authorization, we are stuck to pay the bill.
