Dr. Thor Tangvald IV, MD Reviews

DO. NOT. GO. TO. THIS. MAN. I cannot stress it enough.

My first meeting with Thor was fine. Professional and informative. The second time I went, he asked me how things were going and I told him I was making progress and that I had made a couple new friends who had similar hobbies as me. He immediately screamed at me that I was a liar. Then he ranted for a while about his children and how they were and how I was just like them?? Whatever that meant, but I found it inappropriate. My mother, who was with me, spoke up and said that he seemed to be talking about something else entirely and not about me, and he said, AND I QUOTE, "One in ten people with her illness kill themselves and when she does it, it's not going to be my fault." Not "if" but "when." When you're already seeking help for something, hearing that you're going to kill yourself over it is not encouraging. Then he wrote a prescription, told me nothing about it, and told us leave and said he would see us again, "if you even want to come back," as if he knew what he did was wrong?

We left feeling very confused, and I was fighting off tears. When we went to pick up my prescription, the pharmacist asked me if I had taken the dosage before. I told him no, and he asked if I had taken that medication at all before, I told him no. He called over someone else and they talked, until they told me they could not give me the medication because the dosage could kill me. We were shocked.

After everything that had happened, I made a post on facebook about what was said to me, and how it was really discouraging when I was trying very hard to recover and get better. Someone asked me who it was, and when I said his name, not one, not two, but FOUR people had similar experiences. One was also given a prescription that could kill them, two different medications that you cannot take together. One was given a prescription of klonopin that was extremely high, and then he suddenly took them off of it, which resulted in a seizure. And the other two were screamed at like I was, one being called a "b***h."

I understand how unbelievable this will all sound, but when you even just google his name, similar accounts are all over on different sites. I do not know why this man is still in medicine. This happened a while ago, and I have been kicking myself ever since for not recording this event, or just SOMETHING, so that I could do something about it. If there was ever a class action lawsuit, or anything at all, I would very gladly participate in it. He should not be allowed NEAR people seeking help for mental illness, let alone making a career out of it.
