Dublin Methodist Hospital Reviews

  • Jul 18, 2015

I was sick with flulike symptoms for several days in the month of May. The symptoms seem to intensify on May 5th. I was extremely ill so I decided to go to the emergency room at Dublin Methodist Hospital around 11pm. I checked in and waited. Shortly after I arrived, a nurse or nurses aid brought me back and took my temperture and swabbed my throat. She said to go back and wait in the waiting room until they called me back.

I proceeded to wait for over 4 hours. I kept checking with the gentleman at the desk and he said that they were just busy that night (there were only approximately 8 people there ahead of me). Finally after 4+ hours they called me back. Right when I walked back, I asked the nurse how much longer it would be before a doctor visited me. She said that it would be at least another two hours because there was only one doctor working that night. I told her not to check me in and I walked out right then and said that I could not wait any longer and I would just wait for urgent care to open and go there in a few hours.

Here is the problem. I got a statement from my insurance company, Medical Mutual, and Dublin Methodist sent them a bill fro almost $1800.00 for services rendered. The problem is they did not really provide services. I am more then willing to pay the $400 for the lab fees (taking my temperature and swabbing my throat) because that was something that they actually did. I refuse to pay, or have my insurance company pay the other $1400 because they did not provice any services. They are trying to charge me $1400 for sitting in their waiting room for 4 hours.

Christine Huffman, Physician's assistant

Horrible experience with Christine Huffman. Her bedside manner was

despicable. She seemed in another world, eyes looked glassy, speech

slurred, her breath also reeked to the high heavens. Good personal

hygiene certainly wasn't one of Christine Huffman's strong points. When I

complained to the hospital the next day it was a waste of time - was

sucked into one bureaucracy after another.

After waiting over two hours in absolute agony with an injured leg I was taken back to the ER and saw a physician's assistant, a totally incompetent mess by the name of Christine Huffman. The leg was covered with bruises, all sorts of swelling from fluid build up from the injury, Christine chose the cookies and milk route instead of having a test run to check for blood clots and giving me something for the pain until I could get into see my own Dr. in the morning. Christine told me she could do nothing. I should go home and take two aspirin as if. When I explained the severity of the situation, and that my primary care physician had looked at the leg earlier in the day and said if the leg acted up after hours to go to the ER and get something for pain till the morning, Christine Huffman responded there was still nothing she could do - to go home and take aspirin.

I told Christine Huffman she was wasting my time and left. Furthermore the ER staff neglected to get me to sign a "hipaa" form or any document stating my legal rights as a patient. On top of that the hospital staff neglected to take insurance information & bill the insurance company.

Almost six weeks later I am being harrassed by this institution, mainly due to their bureaucracy and passing the buck. Lastly. people like Christine Huffman have no business working with people who suffer from any kind of injury or illness. She is totally obuse, has her own agenda and that's all there is to it. I am still going around with the hospital as to why they even have this incompetent idiot on the payroll. I am also going round and round with the hospital over billing. Just, as so it seems some progress is made, instead of resolving the issue the hospital side tracks everything with more and more bureaucracy. It would be nice to be able to talk with someone in authority that is straight-forward at Dublin - willing to take on this situation in an intellegent manner and solving - not bogging it down with more and more bureaucracy.
