Edmunds.com, Inc. Reviews

Edmonds, on their website on the about us link, claim the following: "We're Car People. We're a different breed. Some say we're odd, perhaps obsessive, but one things for sure, we're driven to make car buying easy." Edmonds does not make car buying any different than if you just did a tiny bit of research on your own on the internet and walked right into the dealership yourself. In fact they are worse. They make you think that if you use them, you will not be subjected to the any lies and nonsense that you get from new car dealers when you go at it yourself. When you ask for a quote on a new vehicle, they ask for your email address and phone number and promise you that you can get a "no hassle quote" emailed to you or called to you. What happened to me could not possibly further from what I received.

I filled out a form on their website that said "no hassle online quote request". You would think that if you filled this out and sent it off with an exact description of the vehicle you are looking for, that you would simply get an email or a phone call back from someone telling you: "This is how much this car will cost you if you buy it from US". Does that ever happen? NOT A CHANCE. When you fill out this form, edmonds sends your name and email and phone number to about 5 car dealers. Then you will get emails asking you for more of your personal information or ask you to come on in to the dealership or asking you to call them if you have any questions when you had requested a quote in the first place! Duh! THAT WAS my question, you Morons! You will get everything EXCEPT the hassle free quote that you asked for. You will email them back asking for the quote again, either to be ignored totally or to receive another email tell you to call THEM. Again, no quote. Then the delerships will start calling you. This is where the games start. Just as if you walked into the dealership on your own. The fact that this is an edmonds referral so you dont get any bullshit goes right out the window and the games begin.

I asked one sales manager at Scott Robinson Dodge in Torrance, California, can you please just give me the quote that I had asked for through edmonds.com that I was promised? Oh OKAY he says, let me look it up. The inflection in his voice made this clear that I was being a pain in the a*s just for wanting the quote I sent through edmonds in the first place! he was pissed because I was not playing the game where he asked for more of my information or to just come on down and we will talk about it etc. Then he says that his dealership would sell me the car for 64 and some change. I told him that this change could mean hudreds or up to $999 of a difference and could he please be more accurate. Then he finally gave me an exact price. Then he said BUT you can offer something a little lower and I could see what we could do about it. SIGH. I informed him that I just wanted a quote that was promised through edmonds. a no haggle quote that is the smallest price that his dealership is willing to sell me the car for so I can decide to go to him or someone else. He had said that he made an error and that his dealership will only sell me this call for $40,000 over the MSRP. I said 40 as in 4 - 0? He said yes. In other words, he was telling me to take a hike. ATTITUDE. See what happens? Then after that I kept getting calls and calls and calls 5 times as of this writing from other sales people at the car dealership trying to sell me the car. On the 3rd person, I asked to be taken off of the call list. They still kept on calling me. And this is just one dealer. I could repeat like stories or others for every single one of the dealers that edmonds referred me to.

WHAT A NIGHTMARE!
