Erie Construction keeps showing up at my elderly father's house wanting to do work. First, they installed windows which were outrageously priced. Then the company came back to inspect the windows months later and said he needed a new roof. Upon the inspection of roof, these men said he needed a new roof and there was mold. My father who can't climb a ladder due to his age took their word on it because they showed him pictures. They forced him into a $29,000 contract to replace the roof on a house less than 2,000 sq ft This price is at least 2-3 time higher than what it should be. My father does not understand construction costs and they sold him everything they could sell him and raised the labor amount because he is elderly and lives alone. There was no one else there to check behind them and it was too late to change things before the family found out v I have contacted Erie Construction 4 time to attempt to see why this is so high. I keep getting told someone will call me back but no one ever calls me back. My father has been targeted because of his age and when I explain the situation to someone at Erie Construction they are proud of what they have done, start doing a sales pitch with me, and then say someone will call me back. I never hear from anyone and my father will be out $29,000 because Erie Construction has pushed me off past the date to cancel the contract.
My parents are over 80 years old. They have a very old house and it has some roof leaks on the porch area. This company wanted to charge $16,000 for a new roof on a 1800 sq/ft house....... My Dad, in a panic, said 'OK'. Luckily, I asked him about it 2 days later. I have a friend that does remodeling. He laughed too. This company...sales rep... obviously saw an opportunity to take advantage of the elderly.
When you call them, you get the automatic phone circle.... So...... I decided to choose "Get a Quote" option. Funny how you get a response in under 5 minutes when you hit number '3'.
I got the standard sale speach. When i said I wanted to know who quoted on my parent's house, she stumbled. When I asked to speak to her supervisor, she said it was after hours but she would check. I gave her my cell just in case....
I worked for this company as a "Installation Manager" for a couple of years. This company is a massive scam. The only reason they are in business and will continue to be is because they offer financing. I can not count the number of homes I was in that a 30-50k roof was being installed in. The homes were not even worth that much.
They use SUBCONTRACTORS, and the supposed "custom" asphalt shingle, is the same shingle you can get at ABC Supply. Oh sorry, the fiberglass shingle. BULLS***. The customer service option stopped with the installation manager. When the corporate manager, Larry Kilby, got involved, he basically asked me, did the customer pay the balance yet? Yes, I replied. Then F*** Them. The whole company starting at Larry is a giant bowl of s*** who pray on people.
Ask them to drive around and show the houses they put roofs on. They are all junk homes, most have no internet access, nothing in a nice neighborhood. I do not want people to think that I am ripping on the customer, some people can only afford what they can, and thier home may not be their bigest concern, but Erie is looking to take what little money they have and run them down to nothing.
I felt bad for the subcontractor I had hired to install my roofs for me, they were friends of mine and honest working americans who were just trying to make it. If Erie charged 45k for an Allmet Metal Roof, the sub would only see about 4k. If he was lucky.
