I wanted to write a deed and notarize it . On 03/11/2014 I contacted the notary Mrs. Erline Martinez of EMS TAX & MULTI SERVICES and asked how much it would cost, what she said about $ 40. I agreed and went to her.
After it was written she said, out of nowhere, it does cost $ 225. I was in a hurry and reluctantly accepted. The taxes were to be paid separately and she called the Registration office. They supposedly told her exactly how much it cost and she said to me 139.41. I gave her the money.
She didn’t want to give me a receipt for the given money, but I insisted, for the tax money also. When the deed was registered we got the original and saw that actually paid taxes of $ 19.20.
She knowingly took $ 139.41, we complained in written and by phone, but she doesn’t answer either the mails nor the phone. This indicates that she lied on purpose to get an economic advantage of $ 119.71 and now simply ignored the complaint. That is not the proper behavior of a notary.
