Zach Hill came to my door, supposedly sent by a neighbor to earn a sholarship as an intern at Boeing. He just needed to raise another $1000.00. My wife was glad to help him out with $300.00. He told her he lived around the corner and would return to help her with yardwork. He falsifed the receipt amounts and cashed the checks immediately. He is a very good scam artist and very convincing. He apparently turns up in cities all over the US.

"Zach Hill" also came to our door (Lenexa, Kansas). Same story. No books.

"The Experience" in Indiana

The boy who came to our house said he was raising money for his soccer team,

and some would go to Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis. I gave him a

check for a donation, and he gave me a receipt which I signed as "proof" that I supported

the team.. As soon as he left I saw on the very light carbon which he gave me

there was a book listed on the receipt for $46 and a "shipping and handling charge"

of $15 in addition neither of which I was aware. I jumped in my car and drove down the

street, stopped him at a house, demanded my check back and he also gave me the office

copy of the receipt as well by mistake saying he'd get into trouble with the coach if he didn't have

that to show. I asked for the coach's name and phone number and said I'd call him

so the boy would not have problems and I'd tell the coach I changed my mind. Of

course, the number was a fake! I can only imagine how many elderly folks wanted to

be generous with the "neighborhood boy" who was trying to support his soccer team!

Now I've read online how this scam works and how many states these kids are in getting

people to donate to causes and never realizing what has actually happened!
