I serve in the military to protect our country. I was informed by my wife of two months that my babe was listed on this website as "soliciting a female" insinuating I was contacting a prostitute. This is slander and could potentially result in a custody battle between my wife and her ex husband. Because this organization is based in India I am unable to take legal action against this evil scam. Upon further investigation of this slanderous accusation; I have discovered that this organization is based out of India after being shut down in the US. This website allows anyone to submit a name along with a picture and what the website lists " proof ".
In my case, the proof was a screenshot showing my personal phone number with a text that "What is your military special?" I ask restaurants, clothing stores, apartment communities etc. the above question. It is beyond my comprehension that as an active duty soldier in our military I put my life on the line for my country with absolutely no hesitation and cannot believe that I cannot contact this foreign organization to remove my name unless I pay them money. Please assist in removing my name from this website. I'm proud to serve my country and sincerely hope that you will help me to clear my name. In the end, a person's name reflects upon their character. Please keep mine intact. Thank you.
ExposingJohns.com is corrupt scam that runs from an international website and tries to extortion/blackmail innocent individuals by having them pay them up to $400 to potentially remove their phone/name from their list. Please understand this is a scam. The website has an F with the BBB and was in the process of being shut down when they moved offshore (India & Malaysia). Since going offshore this scam has become widespread and they are currently targeting innocent victims, probably since they are more likely to pay the “fee.”
This is how it seems to work. Phone numbers are selected off of public postings (Craigslist and Backpage commonly) for nearly any section, not just the personal section, and the owners name on cell phone number are determined using easily accessible online cell phone lookup tool, pictures are found on Facebook and this information is posted on exposingjohns.com.
If you find your name/phone on this site please: do not open up any part of their site, download any info or contact the site. If you do, check your computer for malware/viruses etc right away. Do not attempt to pay under any circumstances. They are unlikely to take your info down but most likely will just add more of your personal info to the listing and ask for more money to have it removed.
If you did provide your credit card info, cancel that credit card number right away. Some companies are stating that they can remove your name (internetreputations.com) from this scam but do your own research about these companies as this might very well be tied to this scam.
Exposingjohns.com and similar sites being run offshore are preying on innocent victims. Exposingjohns.com is currently being investigated by the FTC and hopefully will be shut down soon. The best thing to do if they have your info is to DO NOT CONTACT THEM OR VISIT THIS WEBSITE at all and REPORT IT TO THE FTC.
