My wife and I rented a unit in north Babylon moving to Long Island from Tampa, Florida to be closer to our grandchildren renting a reasonable 2 bedroom apartment since we'd be spending most of our time taking care of the kids in a 5500 sq ft home... To our surprise when we saw the apartment it had old and worn out carpet. To my wifes dislike (she hates carpet) we were well aware it would keep the apartment warmer and cozier in the winter but requested the carpet be replaced with new carpet. The leading agent specifically stated it's standard to replace it since the previous tenants lived there 3 years with a dog.... We mentioned a broken fan, fridge, microwave, toilet and unfinished painting. She insisted maintenance was still getting the place in order. When we moved in we were surprised nothing was completed (except paint)... The carpet had been shampoo'd. leading agent said the pipes had broken few days prior and maintenance was repairing and working on that all week but would have everything fixed. Then they stopped returning our calls. After 5 months we moved out and expect out deposit back. We are disgusted with lack of unprofessionalism.
