Faux Panels | Barron Designs Inc. Reviews

  • Jul 28, 2014

Here is what the website boasts: "Better than hiring a mason! Faux Panels™ are made of a high-density polyurethane. Our panels and siding are molded from actual rock, stone, and brick, so they are lightweight, durable, realistic and easy to install.

Whether you are a homeowner or builder, you can install the panels yourself for a fraction of the cost and time. We offer the largest selection of faux stone panels and siding on the market today!"

They also brag about all the companies that have used their products. It should be known that they incentivize by paying people to use their success story pictures.

I'm not one that jumps into costly purchases lightly. I do exhaustive research on items and read customer reviews. Relying on the all positive, glowing reviews on their site was a huge mistake. Viewing all the wonderful, "success story" pictures on their site will entice anyone. I should have looked to Ripoff Report first.

Buyer beware that these faux panels are very susceptible to warping and separating after installation, even when following ALL installation directions to a tee. We had a professional licensed and bonded contractor install these panels around the lower exterior of our new build and balcony surround, and they look like utter CRAP. They have warped, separated, and there's even some very noticable color differentiations from panel to panel. I just recently did the math, and we've spent a total of $6812.47 on these garbage faux panels, corners, ledges, and exhorbitant shipping costs and will likely never see a penny of it back. We are beyond devastated and upset, because now we'll incur even more expense by having to pull all the panels and ledges and have professional masonry stone installed. When we contacted customer service regarding the warping, the woman we spoke to had an answer/solution for everything. We wanted to do an exchange for the warped panels, but we were talked out of it at every turn. Just put a heavy item, like a cinder block, on the panels for a couple days and they'll be good as new! Got news, that doesn't work one iota!! Can't easily do that when they're already vertically installed, either! We figured trying to contact customer service again would be futile based on this oh-so-helpful experience, seeing that we'd just get the same woman on the other end again.

If these panels can't handle certain climates, then that needs to be noted and they should not be allowed to sell to certain regions in that case. It's so heartwarming to know that nearly $7000 of our hard earned savings will wind up in a landfill somewhere. Potential buyers reading this, you've been warned! Let it be known also that if you post any negative comments about the products on their Facebook page, the moderator will delete. Might be bad for business.

I'm including pictures to show the aftermath. These panels were tight against each other upon installation and just look at them now, only a few months later.
