I received a letter from Fingerhut a company that I do business with and have an active current account with regarding a temporary credit line increase of $600.00 which makes my credit line $1900.00 with them but I have to make a purchase equal to $600.00 by August 31, 2015 to keep it or I can make a purchase of a lower amount to make the increase permanent.

If I spend $600.00 that is more than 30% of the recommended available credit being used if I spend $570.00 they will still reduce the credit limit by $30.00 which would also have an adverse affect on my credit report. If I decide to spend nothing my report will reflect a deduction in credit of $600.00 because I did not make a purchase.

I have tried contacting them and I was transferred 6 times I finally asked for a supervisor and I was left on hold for almost 45 minutes and then my call was disconnected and no one even bothered to call me back. I don't believe this type of behavior is ethical.

Credit ratings are very important to consumers and have a very large impact on daily life and a company should not be allowed to stipulate a credit increase contingent upon a purchase. I have an excellent pay history with this company, never late, pay more than the minimum and as of 5/2015 I am not carrying a balance and I feel as though I am being penalized for being a good customer.

How can a company be allowed to mess around with anyones credit like this especially with an unsolicited offer of additional credit.

I want to warn people about fingerhut purchases specifically if you have to return an item. On Novenber 17, 2014 I returned a Toshiba Satelite 6gb 17.3" laptop to fingerhut because it was too slow and I discovered Windows 8 was really difficult to use.

I used the shipping labels for returning the item as directed and packaged everything just as I had received it. I sent it through USPS as directed. In January I recieved a bill for the item I had returned. I called them to find out why I was being billed for an item I had returned. They told me that the box had been returned but the merchandise was not inside it except for the "free gift" I had also returned with the item. I assured them that I had shipped everything properly but they said I was responsible anyway for the full cost of the item.

This was a deferred payment plan item and they began billing me in March 2015. They told me that unless I had gotten the item insured or had a receipt from the post office I would still be libel for the full amount of the purchase. Fingerhut does not bother to investigate these situations. They simply accuse the customer of being at fault. I didn't want my credit ruined so I sent them a cashier's check for the full amount, which by this time was $764.00

I then reported the case to the FBI, Federasl Trade Commission, The Better Business Bureau, Facebbok friends, Linked-in,

and Yelp and now you guys. I am a senior citizen and an advocate against fraud and crime against seniors. No one can afford this kind of ripoff. And when the postage labels say pre-paid I'm going to assume that they really mean it! I do business with hcompanies in good faith but I aboslutely have no faith in this company!

I'm glad these guys are going bankrupt! They deserve to go out of business when their own employees are stealing from their customers and nobody gives a dam!

bad billing practice's

Fingerhut sent the first bill and in the 4 months since I've never received a bill since, only nonstop phone calls that are terrorizing do to the frequency. I work in a refinery and cannot be on a phone, just see the constant calls. I'm not paying their late fees period. Well be in court first

Fingerhut sent me 1 bill. The first one). Never a bill since, when i didn't pay they terrorized my phone with calls, looked my mother up and called her, scaring her with a "case" against me. 4 months in to this i've requested a bill, it comes fast, with late charges. I told them i'm paying the standard 14.99 a month only and will bring a "case" when they harm my credit rating. And i believe this is intentional to thousands to generate huge profits in late fees, i asked if i was sent a bill this month, "yes, on the 17th" this is the 8th of april. I do believe they are creating a paper trail of sending bills and sabotaging them showing up. I'm not playing with them we will go to court over principle.

I purchase a electronic device from Fingerhut. I have a disability and could not afford to pay for the item. I contacted Fingerhut to let them know I was returning the item and I sent it back. They received it back but said I still needed to send a payment. I sent in the amount they requested but they increased the amount due to hundreds of dollars and now it is showing on my credit report. They refuse to show the balance as zero. My credit report is ruined now because of Fingerhut.

I need to report my disgust with the Temporary Credit Line Increases. The first one I received got me interested in looking at Fingerhut opportunities however, when I did not use the minimum required to maintain the increased line of credit, it dropped back down. Low and behold so did my Credit Score. When I received the most recent one I contacted Customer Service and requested to no longer receive these temporary increases and to freeze the credit line at the increased amount. I then received a reminder notice that I needed to spend $600.00 to maintain the higher line of credit. On a call (again) to Fingerhut I was directed to the Credit Department who graciously informed me that the line of credit was indeed frozen and would take effect immediately after the credit limit was dropped back down.

Thanks but no thanks. This marketing plan is damaging to our Credit Scores unless we spend. Stop please!!. Don't worry about me though, I closed my account so that Fingerhut can no longer cause me damage. Sounds like the marketing campaign is back firing.

I received a letter indicating that my application for a Fingerhut Credit Card (issued by WebBank) was incomplete. The funny thing, I never applied to such service. I know I have bad credit and I'm also out of work and will never apply for credit when I don't have an income to pay off debt. Now this has me worried of who is possibly trying to get a credit card in my name, how did these people get my address? I have never in my life ordered from Fingerhut and I'm not even comfortable ordering anything online.

According to this letter in order for me to receive credit, I have to show proof of my address and send them via mail a copy of my drivers license and my SS#. Oh and once they receive he documentation, they're going to shred the documents I send to them. Are they kidding me, who do they think they're messing with, do you actually think I'm that stupid to send you my personal identification number. Seriously??!!!

Please just be aware of this scam.

My wife got a call from Fingerhut and they were asking for me.

They said there was an order made FEb 2014 and we owed them ~ $70 bucks.

I have never shopped at fingerhut and haven't missed a bill payment in 20 years.

Attempts to contact customer service resulted in no clarity. They could not pull up my information based on the order number they provided in the call to my wife. Their phone systems actually asks for the last 4 digits of your SS number...WHAT? Then they want your name and telephone number.

The call center is in another country. There is a delay when you try to speak to them. They do not seem to comprehend simple questions and keep asking for personal information.

For example, they want a customer number...I tell them I don't have a customer number, I am calling about possible fraud. They revert back to asking for personal information. I provide nothing but the order number they gave my wife, and then ask me "how may I help you."

It's clearly a scam and fingerhut needs to either address the fraud or be put out of business.

I can't imagine doing business with a company like this, and how they are not shuttered by the US law agencies, I do not know.

I have been on the phone with Fingerhut for literally the last month trying to get a double payment returned to my bank account. I did a stop payment on the check and sent them a notarized form from my bank for a payment reversal and still my money has not been returned. I have been on the phone with dozens of agents--some that can barely speak English (seems Fingerhut is outsourcing their customer service to India) and told so many conflicting things--now they claim they have no record of the form I sent them. The latest insult is that I was told over a week ago that an account specialist would contact me within 48 hours--nothing!

I am fed up with these crooks, I have written a demand payment letter to them and I am sending via certified mail to their corporate headquarters threatening them with small clams court.

My fiancé and I ordered wedding rings to save money. We received his ring via UPS, I assumed both rings would come at the same time via the same method.: seeing that the total value of the 2 rings were 1,300$! Not the case! His 70$ ring came UPS, my 1,200$ ring was supposedly sent regular mail? A** backwards! We never received it, I went to UPS, the post office asked neighbors ( as if they'd admit oh yea I have a 1/2 karat ring that accidentally was put in my mailbox) no luck. Fingerhit stated they would send me a legal form and take the charges for my ring off. I have not received the form or any help from them. I was told to pay 1,200$ ( we already purchased a ring and married) and once they get the legal form they will refund my money. NO WAY! Now it's a battle to even get a valid response , manager, supervisor, the legal letter they say they sent yet haven't! I'm so upset with fingerhut! I've been a loyal paying customer for over a year and have spent thousands with them. Now they try to rip me off??!!!

Fingerhut, Bluestem Brands and Freshstart have committed fraud. I was a new customer and paid Fingerhut up front for an order. The package was lost.

I made several attempts at a resolution but Fingerhut refused to assist and refused to refund the money I paid.

This is a scam and I want to take legal action against Fingerhut, Bluestem Brands and Freshstart. The customer service agents refused to allow me to speak to a supervisor or direct me to their legal department.

The treatment of new customers is atrocious and scandalous.

I once thought that there was only one way to improve my credit in the state of Wisconsin because secured cards weren't allowed at the time. To that end I found out Fingerhut was willing to extend me credit. I was glad to hear this as it seemed nobody else was wiling to help me. So I went ahead and ordered a Toshiba sound bar from them. Something I knew I could afford to make the payments on and expand my options once it was paid off. I sent them the $30 they requested as down payment, (which I thought was reasonable considering my situation) and waited for my item in the mail. Took 2 months between opening the account and having the item in my home. Not good but hey I was just happy to get the credit. I plugged the item in as I was instructed by the instructions that came with the item. I used it for about two hours and went to bed. The next morning I went to turn it on and it would not turn on. I tried and tried like 5 different ways of plugging it in, all to no avail. On the phone I went with Fingerhut customer service. The first call I had with them, they could not find my account, an hour after being transferred to 5 different customer service reps I finally found one who found my account. By this time I had already made my down-payment and keeping with my agreement I had made another payment. Totalling $50. Needless to say I no longer had the use of the item. I was told I had to pay for return shipping back to them and at the time I could not afford it, so I had to wait until I got paid again. I eventually got them to pay for shipping back to them. By then 2 months had elapsed. I attempted to call on several occasions after they got their defective item back and all I get is transfered from "customer service" to another department and back. It seems nobody can help me. My account is closed and from the 591 complaints here... Nobody ever will. A year has lapsed I still have not gotten my $90 in on time payments to them.

I spoke with a lady at Fingerhut and ask that she fix my payment due date for 28th of each month. She stated she would and would give me a one time late fee reimbursement. I called and spoke to a male who was very condescending to me and tried to explain I am on limited income and would like to pay for this item, and that a female had already approved the reimbursement for the late fee.

I've bought from FH before and paid them off, but when I saw they were adding late fees and knowing I was not late I paid it off immediately. Very dishonest people preying on the poor.

I called back a third time and spoke to a girl, I believe her name was Ann. She kept me on the phone for 20 minutes. I said, "Hello". She said that she was still there and was working on it. Finally after 20 minutes she just hung up on me.

I would like to pay this bill, but with all the late fees accumulating I cannot pay it with my limited income. If Fingerhut would have kept their end of the bargain I would have my third payment made.

To finger hut

from Greg Fedorowicz

I am providing the following information so it maybe removed from my credit report. I have made several attempts to have these corrections made but it seams to get worst every time I try. I am saying this again-I have not made any of these purchases being tracked by your company. I did apply for a credit account between the dates of November 2001 to July 2005 and my limit was only 100.00. Having bad credit at the time was a result of being unemployed. I have not been fully unemployed since July 2005 to today August 2014 which is over 9 years. I received treatment for pancreatitis, renal failed, slow heartbeat, sleep apnea, septic flora from taking an antibiotics with a serious side effects, there is much more including three times I had to be restored from a death like state or very much on my way.43 time in the hospital spaced between July 2005 and September 2013. And while all this was going on and when I was living in my home at 1995 brewster drive, Deltona florida I had drugs stolen from me and my identity stolen. During a recent conversation I had with my daughter it came to light one of the items on the purchased credit section from fingerthut was a purchase of curtains. A person named linda farkas purchased curtains but the mode of purchase is unknown. But this person is a known theif and I would not put it pass her to do something like this. open an account in my name and using it for her own gain. But that is no proof of wrong doing, or is it theft. I cannot prove it but all ties with that person had been cut in 2007. It is reported that purchases or account opened 2/2007 with two balances of 135.00 and 201.00 is some of the activity that took place without my knowledge. Fingerhut records can show purchases were made in my name but those records cannot be proof I made those purchases. Just because the purchases were made in my name, does not show proof I made those records intently. I want this wrongly reported credit issues removed from my credit report. To date this is being the items reported in error.

In 2012, I had a fingerhut account. When I fell behind, I reached an agreement with fingerhut to pay off the account at which time fingerhut was to close the account. The account was paid off in the summer of 2013.

On 7 August 2014, I received a call from the billing department of fingerhut saying that I was overdue on an item purchased in June of 2014. Since the account was supposed to be closed by fingerhut when the final payment was made, I could not have purchased anything. I did double-check with everyone who lives in my house and none of them had made any purchases nor had they received any items from fingerhut.

If fingerhut did not close the account as they agreed to, they have created a situation where someone else was able to hack the account and purchase items. I am still trying to contact customer service and explain to them that I will not be paying them anything.

Turned me over to a collection agency for something I did not order or receive. They say I have a Fingerhut acct, which I do not. I did have one 25 years ago.

I receive anywhere from 10-15 phone calls a day from these people. Most of the time I don't even bother to answer. They are rude to me, I was told to pay or else they would ruin my credit. I have had excellent credit ratings for over 30 years.

They have all my info, address, phone, social security # and have already notified the credit bureau.

Supposedly it was some kind of hair straightener, I am 67 years old and my hair is 2 1/2 inches long and straight as a poker.

Then they told me I bought it for someone else.

To finish this off, I have a $150.00 debt to Fingerhut and I have seen a 100 point drop in my credit rating. I am not going to pay for something I did not order or receive.

They said I charged this item on my Fingerhut credit card, which I do not have, nor have I ever had one.

We started out with 30 dollars down on a "Fresh Start", placed order, got merchandise.Balance was about 159.00. got a payment schedule. Made a 50.00 payment one month early, made another 50 dollar payment early & last payment was the remaining balance. We were not approved for increase & our account still shows a balance. These people lie & no 1 person can give you the same answer or an reason.

On December 14,2013 I placed an order with fingerhut, then on December 16,2013 I cancelled the order. Then I had to call my bank and turn them in for a fraudulent charge to get my money back which I did. But now they keep billing and are putting it on my credit report that I owe them $84.32 for what I have no idea I have called them and emailed them even argued with them on the phone because they unrelentlessly keep calling and will not fix anything but said they will put it on the credit bureau as a charge off they will do nothing. I don't know what else to do I refuse to pay them for nothing.

I have ordered 9 products from Fingerhut and only 2 I still own. 1 is because I don't use it because the parts needed after purchase are expensive & 2 is because it is useless.

I make my payments weekly and pay over the monthy amount asked. I got a letter from Fingerhut telling me how great I am and to spend my credit available.

All but the 2 products I bought either broke, fell apart, or quit working! So they are in the trash. So basically I am paying for products I threw out because the quality is terrible.
