Firestone Complete Auto Care Reviews

On 5/29/2015, I drove into Firestone Complete Auto Care in Waldorf, MD and requested wheel balance, tire rotation, and vehicle check. The report came back that nothing was wrong with the car and the report also indicated tire rotation was done at no charge. Nothing was wrong with the vehicle, except that the wheels needed to be balanced. The wheels were never balanced. I went home and did not drive again until 6/2/2015.

On 6/2/2015, while driving, I noticed that the car was making funny noises and as it progressed, the battery light came on. I thought the battery posts may have been loose so I went back to the same Firestone Complete Auto Care in Waldorf, MD. They went under the hood and did something. I told them the battery came from Sam's Club a year ago, and it was still under warranty. The battery light went out and I started driving again. 2 miles down the road, the battery light came on again.

I turned around and went back. They said, “It’s your alternator." He said it would cost $453 dollars to fix it. I allowed the work to be done because I was too far away to risk driving with the battery light on and the car making funny noises. He called AutoZone and ordered a re-manufactured alternator and charged me for a brand new alternator. I feel like because I am a female, something was done to my vehicle to make me come back to them for service. There was nothing wrong with the car when I went to them on 5/29/2015. I only needed wheel balance and rotation. I keep excellent maintenance records and know there was nothing mechanically wrong with this vehicle. They never balanced the wheels.

I believe they created a situation whereby my battery drained because the alternator was unplugged

They charged $270 dollars for an AutoZone alternator that only cost $169.99 plus $50 core charge…And Firestone never returned my core so I could at the very least get $50 back.

The above stated facts are true and to the best of my knowledge.

My daughter had new tires and an oil change at Firestone in Aiken SC. before going to the beach. On her way to the beach the car stopped running and the oil light came on. She call Firestone and they told her to have it taken it to the nearest Firestone.

When the car ait soprrived at the Firestone in Orangeburg SC they told her the wrong oil was used in the car. They changed the oil and they drove the car and it stopped on them too. They could not get the oil light to go off. After several attempts to get the oil light to go off. They agreede for her to get a rental at there expense.

They did not pay for the rental and told use to remove the car from there place of business because the car problem was not there fault.

This was a well maintained Toyota Avalon 2003.

I just left Firestone Complete Auto Care located at 1516 Government St. Mobile Al, 36604. The only reason I paid for the "service" I received was to get my vehicle back. I brought in my Ford SUV today, April 17, 2015 exclusively to have the tires rotated (my normal mechanic does not rotate tires).

I called in advance and the person who answered the phone quoted me a price of $20 for this service. As I have several errands to complete today I thought that this would save me some time and effort instead of having to rotate them myself using only the tire jack and manual tire wrench set that comes with the car used primarily for changing the tire in an emergency situation on the side of the road. Now I wish I had done that!

I spoke with the Store Manager, Matthew Mullins and advised him that I wanted to have my tires rotated and nothing else. While I was sitting in the waiting room, I noticed that the hood to my vehicle was raised and the technician seemed to be inspecting the vehicle. When I asked what was going on Matthew claimed that this was a "courtesy check".

I always make an effort to be up to date with vehicle maintenance - and I check my tire PSI once a day. I live 0.7 miles from Firestone and had just finished checking the PSI on all 4 tires before I came to the shop. I watched the technician, Edgar, rotate the tires and I made the mistake of going to the restroom. When I came out of the restroom, Matthew called me outside to show me a screw that was in one of my tires. He told me that the technician "went to inflate the tires and noticed that one was extremely low."

When I told Matthew that I had just checked my tire pressure less than 10 minutes before bringing it into the shop, he claimed that there was "a lot of construction" from where I live to the Firestone (which there is not). The tire in question was located on the opposite side of the vehicle from where I could not see what was going on from the waiting area. I also noticed that the large screw was extremely clean (like it had not been driven over) where it was located in the tire.

While I was waiting for this extremely lengthy repair to be completed another customer came into the store and told Matthew that service done on his vehicle was completed incorrectly. Apparantly they had "fixed the wrong tire." I was also advised that my battery (5 months old) was in critical need of replacement, and that I needed to have my front brakes done (which were done in January of this year). My vehicle gets driven less than 20 miles a day on average - and hardly ever on the highway. When I questioned Matthew about this he told me that he "normally does not recommend" persons changing their battery just because Firestone's test.

I was charged an additional $12.99 for a "tire patch" which I am not certain was done correctly as there was a white chemical substance on the outside of my tire after the job was done which Matthew claimed to be tire lube (I am hoping they did not use Fix-A-Flat). I checked my tire pressure and they had been overinflated to 36 PSI (Manufacturers recommendation for my vehicle is 30 PSI). I ended up having to deflate some air from my tires right there at Firestone.

I would advise anyone in the area to steer clear of this Firestone and Matthew Mullins. They are a complete rip off. What should have taken 15 minutes and $20 turned into $33.19 nearly 1.5 hours. I left feeling sick to my stomach. Apparantly, this Firestone's version of "Complete Auto Care" means to rip people off and take advantage of anyone they think doesn't know any better.

My wife and I chose to start going to Firestone in Alcoa in 2009. At the time we had two vehicles, a 1998 Kia Sephia and a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix. Over the course of a few years both our vehicles had mechanical and electrical problems that absolutely needed to be addressed. We unfortunately put our trust in the men that work for this particular location and they consistently over-charged us for completely bogus work on both vehicles ! Almost every time we took one of the cars in to have a problem fixed we ended up having to return with an almost identical problem if not worse ! They contiually upcharged us for everything they did. We actually had to sell the Kia for scrap after we took it to them about five times for an electrical problem and in the end when I left with it the last time one of the windshield wipers didn't work,...when I inquired about it they glibly told me that they had to disconnect it in order to stop the unknown power drain yet they charged us exubarent prices and said that's the way cars used to be,...one wiper and all. Jeez ! The Pontiac did have a few major problems and after spending tons of money for work on it time and time again,..I'm talking probably over a thousand dollars for "repairs and service" that lasted maybe a couple of months only to have to return and they add additional problems or increase the cost of the initial one. Upon our final visit I inquired how much evrything they listed would be in total and they quoted me $1482.48. I went to another auto place here in town...Auto Pro on Gill St. Alcoa, Tn. 37701. I showed them the list and they offered a no cost diagnostic to compare findings. With the exception of two things Firestone had listed that did not need to be addressed at all, their total service charge ended up being $ 965.70 !! And they actually fixed our air conditioning and included it in that total whereas Firestone said that the A/C would be an additional $355.00 ! The so called mechanics at Firestone are nothing more than two bit scamming thieves that work on commission and lie about auto problems to fill their own pockets ! I am officially boycotting Firestone as a whole and would implore anyone reading this to do the same. They are cheats and don't back up their services with any kind of substantial work ! If you have a car and live in Alcoa Tn., don't take it to Firestone unless you're just simply a glutton for punishment !

I took my car in to Firestone to get a few motor mounts replaced costing $1,800. We drove it for a day and a half and the car started to overheat. We took it back and they said it would cost another $1,000 to repair so I took it to another mechanic. It turned out that the antifreeze was empty and the hose probably got knocked (or taken) off durring the motor mount repair. My mechanic added some antifreeze and my car runs great. Best of all, my mechanic did not charge me for adding the antifreeze!

Erik was the counter person for me..I asked him at least twice when he quoted me a price. I SHOULD have gotten it in writing. I'm highly disappointed in the second trip to the irving location and will not be returning to that location again. I purchased 4 tires all together along with a lifetime alignment. 2 tires this last trip almost cost me as much as the 2 tires and alignment.. what kind of person thinks this is ok and valid? I feel ripped off and cheated.

Biggest Automotive rip off, stay away!, I called firestone and a guy named Kevin told me that it costs $99 per axle for brake pads, I though that was a good deal, I go down there and asked how long will it take to get the front pads replaced, he said its going to take about 30 min to get the car in and an hour and 15 min to get it done, i said ok, 1 hour passed, the car has not been on the hoost, I asked them whats going on, he said he will have it up in 15 min, 30 min passed, its not up, I go back and the car still parked, 2 hours later, they lift the car up, come back with a bill of $919 and they told me that I needed brand new rootors, calibers on top of the pads!, I already had my car inspected by another mechianic shop the day before it took them half an hour and they did not mention anything about rootors or calibers, I asked Kevin to just replace my pads for the $99, he said oh no I can do that!, so they wasted 2 hours of my time and no pads were replaced, they are total scam artists, stay away from this store.

My girlfriend's 2006 GMC Envoy would not shift into gear and she was left stranded at her workplace in Garland, Texas. With little recourse, the went across the street to the local Firestone. They graciously moved her vehicle to their repair center and determined the interlock cylenoid needed to be replaced. They quoted her a price of $391, but after the questioned the charge they said they would split the labor and only charge her $40 labor but the part was a dealer only product and cost $284. The Manager told her it would be almost 2 hours before the vehicle was ready because the only part available was at Stonebriar Chevrolet and they had to pick it up.

Our knowing people at the Commerce Chevrolet dealership led us to question the cost of the part needed. We were quoted $97.19 for the part they said needed to be replaced. When she question the staff about the $284 price they quoted, they then said it was more for the assembly and not just the electrical component. So once again the assembly was priced and it was $180. When my girlfriend asked to see the invoice from Stonebriar Chevrolet, she was told there was not one provided by the dealership. Who does not get a receipt?

Firestone adjusted the cost of the part, but then added on more charges than originally quoted. They added an $80 diagnostic charge - a fee never charged if the shop makes the repairs for you. She questioned this charge and was told this was done only by Firestone for every repair. She was also charged $102 labor, not the $40 originally quoted. Of course, the manager who quoted that was gone by this time.

The District Manager will be contacted, but this is simply a case of rip-off-the-female-driver. Avoid the place, they are crooked.
