Fitness Evolution Reviews

I signed up for Personal Training and a gym membership with Fitness Evolution. 5 days later I had yet to meet my "trainer". I decided since I still had one day left in my grace period, stated in the contract, I was going to cancel.

When I called the gym, after going over the most confusing Cancalation Clause, their trainer Zack, said "Well, Im quitting so I'll be honest, everyone who tries to cancel gets sent to collections because the cancelation process never works out."

The cancelation process Zack spoke of was to "mail, hand deliver, or Telegram (to North Carolina) that I was canceling my contract, by midnight on the 5th day of my contract." This is impossible to do the 4th day of your contract all the way from California. Also, there is no place that even does a Telegram, and assuming this scamming facility has no way of recieving one.

I then mailed a letter, photo copied my contract, and wrote a letter stating why I was canceling my contract. Then, email a copy of all these documents to the regional manager in Stockton and the manager of the Stockton location. I then placed a stop payment on the check.

I then called the manager of the persol training of Fitness Evolution in Monterey, she told me that the company was such a scam she was going to be quitting and that I should do what ever is neccessary to cover my butt.

I now see the company is trying to pull money from my account and this company, Fitness Evolution AND Professional Fitness has no legal right in doing so since I followed what my contract stated. Given this, I am looking for free legal representation to file a legal action against the companies business license and make them responsible for the financial hardship and stress they have put myself and countless others through!

I am a new member who joined Fitness Evolution "strictly" for the variety of fitness classes. I viewed the class selections for Nov 16-22 and chose a class to attend.

I traveled from Laurel, MD to Fort Washington, MD only to be told that particular class was not on the class schedule after waiting for 30 minutes. On top of that, the employee was not apologetic.

In fact the current class schedule does not match the web site class schedule at all. When I asked for a copy of the current class schedule, the employee said that no copies could be given out because your gym is green.

Please help me understand why the website class schedule is not current especially when your gym refuses to hand out copies of the schedule? The front desk employee refused to let me speak with the general manager stating that any employee could act as a manager.

There was no telephone number available to speak with the owner. I sent an email to [email protected] describing my concerns on November 19. There was never a response.

False advertising of classes. Poor customer service. Inaccurate information on web site. Stay away from Fitness Evolution in Fort Washington. There are too many other health club options.

The old saying "you get what you pay for" is so applicable.

I was a member of Fitness Evolution for a couple months and never had any big problems with their payment systems. It was somewhat irritating that they would charge my monthly membership under different names ("gym dues" or "system fees") and on different dates of the month, each month. In early September, I went into the gym to cancel my membership because I was moving to another state. I went in, canceled, signed the paperwork (which I read top to bottom) and got verbal aggrement that my bank account would no longer be charged or used in any way, other than for paying the current month and next months bill (because they require 30 day notice).

I moved away and never thought of the gym again, until I noticed that my bank account continued to be charged for monthly memberships 90 days after I have canceled it. Then I noticed another charge on my account of double what my membership used to be, so I finally called my bank and reported it to them.Everytime I called Fitness Evolution, the manager was either busy or not available. One day I called, I decided to let the person on the phone who answered look into these charges so that I could get some answers.

After giving her my information to look into my account, she said that the reason I continued to get charged for a membership was because they always charge for the next month. I finally got her to understand that was 90 days ago and she still could not give me an exact answer of why they continued to charge me. I was actually surprised that she did not even have exact dates or records of this in the account anywhere! When I asked about the random charge, she said it was my yearly fee... Once again, I had to ask why I was being charged a yearly fee when I am not even a member anymore and have not been for over 3 months!? And again, no exact answer.

After no solution, I asked her to please remove my bank account information from their system and she said she would, although I doubt it. I have contacted my bank again and explained the concern I had, so they have filed a fraud report against the business and currently are waiting for the investigators to get the information they need (which they are probably having problems reaching a manager or business owner, because they are never there or available). If you are a current member or you recently canceled your membership at this gym- keep an eye on your bank account and report these fraudulent charges to your bank and the BBB so that this does not happen to anyone else!

I have been continuously billed for 3 months by Fitness Evolution in Fort Washington, Maryland FRAUDULENTLY! I signed up for a trial membership in May of 2014 this year. I was told that I would only be billed $1 on my debit visa card on the day I signed up May 3rd, 2014, and that I would be billed another $9.99 the following month of June if I continued to utilize the gym. I stopped going two weeks after I signed up for the trial membership because I lost my job. I then called to find out what the cancellation policy was so they wouldn't bill my card the following month of June. I was told that I had to write a letter stating that I was cancelling and bring it to the facility. I did that immediately and hand delivered the letter that day May 19, 2014. I was then told that I would be billed another $9.99 the following month because it took 30 days to process after cancelling the trial membership. I didn't think that was a big deal, so it was no problem. However, I noticed that the following month no money was taken out, so I didn't think anything of it and pretty much forgot about it. Well on August 3rd of this month, 3 months after the fact, I realized that Fitness Evolution debited $65.00 from my card. To add insult to injury, they debited another $39.00 on the 15th of August 2014 as well! The money they are taking is my unemployment compensation, as I am not employed at this time. In this economy, and being the mother of a teenaged son, I CANNOT AFFORD to have them continue to steal my money. I went in to speak with the manager J.O., who only gave me the run around. He told me that a letter was not required and all I was supposed to have done was sign the signature pad, and I would have been cancelled. I explained to him that the gentleman that I spoke with when I called to find out about the cancellation policy told me that I had to write a letter. I told him that irregardless of the policy, I didn't want them charging my card again from that point on. He told me to sign the signature pad and that it would be officially cancelled, so I did. That was on August 6th, 2014. Well needless to say, on August 15th I was billed AGAIN for $39.00! When I called this morning to find out why they are still taking my money, the manager J.O. got belligerent with me. I asked him if there was a corporate office and he said no! I then asked him if Fitness Evolution was a franchise with a private owner, and again I was told no. He said he was the manager and that was it! He refused to listen to anything else I had to say and subsequently hung up on me. I never signed a contract or anything of that nature. So they have NO right to continue stealing my money! I have also filed a fraud charge with Citi Bank, the banking institution that my visa debit card is associated with.

This is the absolute worst club I have ever come in contact with. First off I was told they a contract free club and month to month. AS ADVERTISED ON THE WEBSITE. Then when the IDIOT (Spencer) who signed me up messed up the paper work I called 5 days after signing up and complained that I was charged 3 seperate times for my membership when it was a family membership and should have only been charged once. That by the way was on 5/20/14 after that I continually called for a month and never received a call back. I went into the club once and was told by a manager it would be fixed and I would be given 2 months of free membership for my inconvience seeing that I was charged 3 times.. gee thanks.

That never happened. Then that same day the ONLY time I tried the club I waited for a class that never ended up happening because the stereo equipment wasnt working.. and everyone was promised free personal training for the inconvience gave our phone#s to trainor .. NO CALL ... Then spoke with Leo the one who promised to fix my membership and told him in June I don't even want the membership I can't get anyone to call me back.. its the worst customer service EVER!! He said he would take care of it.

At this time I was never told I had to send a cancellation notice to anyone just that he would take care of it and I would be re-imbursed. A month goes by no return calls nothing.. Charged again and not only for the membership fees but now a maintainance fee that I was never told about. Then started speaking with Stephanie another manager after I couldnt get in contact with Leo anymore after about 10 calls. She was the first person that told me I had to send an e-mail to the corporate office to cancel my no NO CONTRACT membership. OH I PROMISE THEY WILL CALL YOU BACK TODAY ... I cant tell you how many times I heard that. So Stephanie promised to show all the problems and notes to the Regional Manager and call me back. Well I just received a call back today 8/05/14. After trying since 5/20/14.

I was of course told I would not receive any refund after I payed hundreds to a club I NEVER used and my son used a few times. I was told since I called 5 days later instead of the 3 day period I was not owed any monies. Also that this was in my contract (YOU KNOW THE NO CONTRACT MONTH TO MONTH) one. This club is an absolute joke. All they did was tell lies and the service is an absolute nightmare. The club is also VERY sub-par if I knew I was going to pay all the BS fees and such which I was never told or given any copies of for this NO CONTRACT CLUB. BETTER OFF GOING TO A BIG GYM WHERE YOU WILL ACTUALLY GET THE SERVICE YOU DESERVE.
