Five Star Auto Auction Reviews

  • Apr 29, 2014

I went to this place before and was satisfied. But this time they sold me a Passat at their Auction on 01/04/2014. And when I got in the vehicle nothing worked. The blinkers did not work, the break lights did not work, the check engine light was on. A man named Skip said that he would help me into another car and offered me a 2003 Dodge Neon for $500 more. I came back two days later expecting to deal with him, and he instead passed me off to one of his associates, who kept saying just give us the $500 and we'll give you the Neon. I told his associate that Skip told me I can look at different cars and check out other options. The associate said I don't handle that part of the business. So I had an Ultimatum, and took the Neon. The car needed to be Jumped twice in order for me to make it home, then it had trouble starting so I replaced the battery, and it started up again. Only to find out that the transmission will not shift gears, its stuck in low gear. I took it to Autozone, and they gave me a list of errors and failures. Then trying to leave autozone right afterwards the car would not start. Somehow after checking the connections it did, and I was able to make it two miles down the road to my uncles house where it is now sitting. The car will not start at all as of now and I bought it for 2k on 01/06/2014. This happened on 01/09/2014. They never disclosed anything wrong with the car. Only to find out that the transmission wont shift, and now the starter went out. They advertised the car as a drivable vehicle, well considering it broke down in 3 days, and I only put about 10 miles on it. That certainly is not the case. I contacted Skip to see if there was anything we can do, to either get my money back or resolve this. So far I haven't heard anything from them. I've left messages, and sent a text to this mans personal cell phone. I'm filing a grievance with the Attorney General. I also filed a complaint with the BBB. From what I have been reading on lemon laws, If in 15 days or 500 miles a used car breaks down, the seller must refund the entire amount of the vehicle. The car broke down in 3 days, and less than 20 miles. Unless they resolve this, I would never recommend this auction to anyone. Their Cars are advertised, as great working vehicles, but they don't disclose any mechanical problems, or issues with the vehicle which they are supposed to. And considering I bought a different car two days after the actual Auction, I'm not even sure it counts as an auction sell.It was more like a personal sale by the company. Very poor service, very unorganized, and we'll see how this matter plays out. But as of right now Im out two thousand dollars, and still without a vehicle. I was never made aware the car they sold me not only was a salvage restore, but was having transmission issues. And had I of known this I would have never bought this vehicle. Times are very difficult for everyone. But that doesn't mean businesses should start doing bad practices just to make a buck off someone who could barely afford a vehicle, let alone being able to afford the costs of repairs now that it does not work. I should receive a full refund, or at least a credit for another car in their upcoming auction. Frank Garcia.
