FreshLoc Technologies, Inc. Reviews

  • Jul 17, 2014

The time has come to clear up some of the misrepresentations that are being promulgated to potential employees and may impact customers as well. This group is advertising an inside sales position about every 3-5 months. They claim it is not a turn and burn, typical, telesales position. Let’s take a look at the facts to get a better understanding of who and what is really going on.

The last known advertisement for employment on craigslist was March 25th, 2014. As always, they claim that this is not the typical turn-n-burn telesales position. Like culprits, that say they did not do it when the police arrive after being called regarding a crime, they are in denial denying it is a turn and burn up front. They apparently understand that this is not what they want to be known for, so they deny it upfront. Let’s just say that craigslist is a cheap place to advertise and is known for turn and burn, as is most of their advertisers. FreshLoc advertises quick hire, which almost certainly means quicker to fire, amongst other issues, an excess of business not being one of them. Finally, their market is saturated with bigger and better competitors entering the business every day. This should be a critical matter for customers.

One of the cofounders is terminally ill and recently moved to Florida. The other is the President. His head is in a lot of places, but according to rampant rumors, Freshloc’s future interest is not one of them. The rumors are that he is turning up the heat in and giving new meaning to: “turn and burn”.

What can you expect when you arrive as a salesperson: One sales person that is VP of sales and operations. A second person, that has an odd story about his tenure, but has already called everyone on your list and knows almost everyone on the list and appears to be second to the VP. The 3rd and last chair in the sales department will be the chair that is being filled. This group does not give or have any training, and is severely lacking in other critical sales procedures and processes that a customer and employee should insist upon. There is a multitude of old, used lists that have been and are being worked by everyone that is or has ever been there. They have a database that has had every prospect and client entered over-and-over numerous times, sometimes by the same salesperson; keeping everyone confused for now obvious reasons. They have a set of working rules that are more restrictive to chair number three than the other two. This is a small group of people, about ten between the two operating companies; the other is Wello. For some odd reason the management and staff are always looking at he ground when they walk by and almost never speak to one another beyond “good morning” and “have a good one” at the end of the day, including all of management and ownership. The VP will not inform the 3rd salesperson which of their prospects is responding to promos and are signing up for the promoted sales activities such as webinars. Freshloc’s website also has several opportunities for prospects to bypass the sales people and go directly to management.

Freshloc advertises $13.50 per hour plus commissions for salespeople, but on start day you learn that is: 13.50 plus 5% for the first three months, then 10.00 plus 10% for the second three months and 7.00 plus 15% thereafter. That is the agreement. After three-five months you are likely to learn that there is no job after 3-5 months. It tuns out that you will be calling the same lists as everyone, and sending in reports every week identifying who is ready to buy and when. Selling capital equipment to hospitals over the phone is not fast. It will take a minimum of 3-5 months to before your pipeline will begin to have activity and make purchases, and this is when one can expect to be burned, or terminated. This is because you will be out gunning the other two sales people. You will be approaching closing prospects that others could not get a hold of or could not make headway with. You will be cutting into their expected sales. Your expected commissions could be realistically projected @ $3-5 thousand dollars going forward. It is no wonder that you will be seen as a sacrificial lamb for greed. This is when you services will not be needed anymore and when they will break their agreement with you cold turkey.

Freshloc advertises company paid insurance. Eligibility is after 90 days, about when it becomes profitable to terminate your services by breaking the agreement, and why not, health insurance is an added expense for a fledgling small company competing against the big boys, especially for companies whose management is not business oriented. Don’t expect reminders when your 90 day probationary period is up either. The bit about all of the help and support they are going to provide, don’t expect that from people that won’t even talk to you or anyone else during the day. Apparently, time is too precious and short for that.

Finally, a week before your last day you can expect to place orders for your business cards. The rumors that the President does not want anything to do with Freshloc will abound. News that they are advertising for a new sales person leaks out. On your surprise last day, the VP could be confused and give you instructions on things that you should do differently going forward. At quitting time you could be given the “oh how it hurts to say goodbye but yada, yada” scenario followed by: “I will be happy to be a reference for you” before being rushed out the locked door.

Qualified professional telesales people do not build sales pipelines for $13.50/ hour in the hospital capital equipment industry, but with insurance, vacation, substantial commissions and other benefits, one is likely to work hard to see it through building and correcting the database. This group reminds me of Hell’s Kitchen (A popular tv reality show), whose producer focuses on helping rogue failed management in restaurants. They recently had an episode that rose to prominence based due largely to management’s open cheating of employees pay. It turns out that American’s do not like businesses that cheat employees. Word has it that particular restaurant’s only customers now are those that saw the episode and now go there as tourists to find out if the owners are as crazy as they appeared.

In my opinion this company is being run by criminals and cheats. I would not recommend this company to my clients as employees or customers.
