Friendly Computers Spokane Reviews

  • Mar 10, 2015

I Started looking for new work in 2014 after I noticed pay missing from my paychecks. I confronted Glenn Black about it and he seemed reluctant to look at first. After doing the math it was a large amount missing from the whole year. Jim Dixon and Glenn Black did their math and paid me less than I had added up. They said some numbers had gone through that I didn’t know about, and not to worry. Be happy to get some money and still have a job was the feeling I got from the owner Jim Dixon. I know one prior employee has not received a check to date and I am sure his pay was doctored as well. I didn’t know what else Jim Dixon and Glenn Black were doing and I didn’t want to, but I knew I had to find a new job.

The main reason I refused to sign the employee review in the first place was because it was in itself illegal. Two Customers I had done repairs which I wasn’t qualified for, but was sent because they didn't want to reshedule, were disputing their charges. Combined it was around $5000. Jim and Glenn were trying to get me to sign stating I would pay Friendly Computers their loss if they lost the dispute. I don’t know about this state but most other states it is generally illegal for an employer to deduct from an employees paycheck if it is for the benefit or convenience of the employer. This would include any compensation for financial losses due to clients not paying the bills.

Jim Dixon wanted an extra half to a full hour charged per customer no matter what due to a slow season. I didn’t feel right fixing the computer for a customer, who doesn’t know anything about computers, while acting like I’m doing something to charge them more. If it takes me 20 minutes I’m not going to fake an hour of labor just to charge an extra $50-$100. I felt horrible and it affected my mental state and my home life. It was also very unethical to treat the elderly and inexperienced that way.

The overloaded work schedule there due to understaffing is rampant and the turnover rate is out of control. The fact that they refuse to release any documentation you will ever sign due to "Corperate policy" is the first thing that tipped me off.

Don't use their services and or work for this company!!!!
