Garrett Smith, AIA, the architect, General Contractor and foreman of our new home oversaw the installation of a new engineered wood floor. One of the floor boards from the start has a dimple protruding from the substrate later showing through the pattern and wear layer. It has been acknowledged as a defect by the builder attempting to repair by sanding and covering with a non-matching coat of poly. The defective board is in a high traffic area and the builder refuses to replace the board, which is what is recommended by two contractors familiar with this flooring work. This is the most egregious one of several other issues which cannot get settled after 15 months of conversations. Buyer beware do your homework!
