Gas Light Equine Vet Clinic Reviews

  • May 7, 2014

I sent two (2) mares from Michigant to Kentucky for breeding purposes. Both mares had current coggins tests and current negative breeding cultures from my vet in Michigan. Dr. James Beckman required that my mares reside at a farm by the name of Aurora Stables (never go there!!!!) as he highly recommended them & was there every day.

I paid the first bill from Dr. Beckman without close examination as it was just over $100. The second billing statement that I received from Dr. Beckman made no sense, so I asked for his notes on my mares, including his workup and other information.

It was interesting to note that none of Dr. Beckman's notes agreed with each other. The notes indicated that he was treating my mares for something when they were at the breeding farm, that he was treating them when they were no longer at Aurora Farms, but even back in Michigan.

Dr. Beckman also insisted on another culture on one mare when it was still current since she hadn't even been bred as of yet.

I paid the vet bill IN FULL but I would never use this vet again. He charges for services that he doesn't provide and on days that it isn't even done.

Dr. Beckman also works hand-in-hand steering clients to Aurora Farms who is also a big CON. Aurora Farms charges for sending mares to the breeding shed when they never leave the farm. I only found this out when I contacted the breeding farm, which was Shadwell Stables. They had no reason to lie, but the vet, Dr. Beckman and Aurora Farms did.
